The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

I think this is the logical thread on which to announce this since those here who really know me generally hang out here on our Atlas chat thread. I have an e-book being published right now. it's not on Amazon just yet, but they are working down the list. It's on these places (universal link) so far:
Roots, Rocks & Feathers E-book
Don't feel pressured to purchase this, but you can click on the book when you click on the link, see the cover, and read about it if you are interested.

I am currently tweaking the manuscript, editing and making adjustments to be able to publish in print form, which is very different from digital format. I only did this so that I could actually finish the project I began in 2012 while recovering from a broken ankle and my subscribers, friends and family might want to read it. I do think the print version will be a better, but here it is. I like completing projects. So few around here ever get done. My husband cracked his foot and he's hobbling around painfully so completed projects are pushed back, yet again.
How exciting! Congratulations!!! Off to view the link.

I just added an introductory price for two weeks as well if you're interested. It may not be live until tomorrow some places.
Your book is lovely. You write with an amazing sense of place, and I feel like I’m right there, including toiling up your stairs with my bad knee. 😃

I too am rootless, as a grown-up Army brat. Been to a lot of places around the world, none of them a home with history, no childhood friends. So I’m clinging to our oversized house on 0.15 acres, putting down roots as fast as I can. (Chicken poop helps with that.)

Thanks for posting the link to your book. This is exactly the kind of writing I love, quiet and meditative, and observant of detail. I hope you’re happy with your work - you should be! 🥂

Thank you so, so much! 💞I was not sure who would like this type of writing. I just wanted to be authentic about it all. And I really wanted to finish it even if I didn't make a dime on it. Didn't want my kids to find it unfinished on my computer after I was gone from this earth, and say, did you know Mom was writing a book? My younger son is an author of two books himself so he's been a big help in figuring out how this publishing thing works.
You are so right....chicken poop helps, LOL!

I am at my wit's end. It's hot again, the pasture grasses and those inside the fence are 2-3' tall. I can't mow it myself, just way too much area to cover for my rechargeable mower. My husband broke his foot by stepping on a petrified piece of wood that he was supposed to use a chainsaw to remove since I had a dickens of a time shoveling them (I did that yesterday, finally, but too late for him. I quit trying to dig them up because I was waiting for him to do it like he said)but he procrastinated for probably ten years. They are almost hard as concrete and now, he is completely unable to help with anything. I had to take him to the ER when he couldn't walk at all and some yahoo put a deep 2" scrape on the passenger side door of my SUV (people are so inconsiderate) in the hospital parking lot.
Those Omega Rock cockerels are 20 weeks old and still here, three of the four sale ones are causing trouble refusing to go back into the barn when I need them to and I need them gone yesterday. I am trying to do publishing related stuff, finish my current quilt and i am running out of steam, frankly. I wish someone would take them off my hands soon. I'm afraid if I have to spend time herding them like cats that I'll hurt myself.

So very sorry Cynthia. I'd be in trouble too if my husband was laid up. Something I need to keep remembering so I stop adding more and get back to a reasonable number.

I'm so sick of summer. Time to cool off and relax a bit. Wish I could send someone over to get those cockerel for you.

Oh, my friend, I wish you could, too. I'm so sick of summer, too. It's disgustingly hot and humid.

With the mowing, can you just hire someone with a mower (or scythe) that can handle it?

My husband and I (he: 75, I: 70) have finally realized that we don’t have to do everything ourselves. Part of our living independently as we get older is to pay people to do stuff that it would be crazy for us to do.

To us, “living independently” means that we are able to hire others occasionally to do those things that it would be silly for us to take on.

I’m so sorry about your husband's broken foot! I hope that ice and elevation and patience will get it functional once again. ❤️
