What a great topic for a thread!
A neighbor of ours had a heart attack in December, 2023, and has since passed on. Her legacy for me is that I've worked out on the elliptical
every day since December 8, 2023. 619 days and counting.
I recently had a bone density scan, and I've lose some density since my last scan 3 years ago. I have osteopenia, and a T-score of -1.5. (-1 is good; -2.5 is osteoporosis.) My grandmother had osteoporosis. She broke her hip at age 78, and never walked again. She spent the rest of her life in a bed in a nursing home.
To help build up bone density, I've started skipping on our daily dog walks. Maybe it looks silly, but I've never shied away from being silly.
The 619 days in a row? One day at a time. After I got to 50 days, I wanted to get to 100. Then 200. Then a year. Then 500. Now I WILL NOT miss a day, because it would take me 619 days to be able to say 619 days in a row. And by then, it would have been 1238 days in a row.
My health is my wealth. Lose it and it is damned expensive to get back, if indeed you can.
Sorry, I don't mean to brag or sound preachy. A friend of mine thinks I'm "reveling in wearing a hair shirt." But I feel like I'm in the best shape of my life, at age 63.
