The Expecting Chick Momma Thread

I wish my feed store would give me an exact date on when they are getting babies. he just keeps saying sometimes in February. ugh that could be anywhere from tomorrow till 30 days from now. He should at least be able to give me a week.
Would it be a possibility to leave your name and number with them and ask them to call you when the little ones arrive? my local feed store will do things like that, so maybe yours will too?

I am super excited. Getting the heat worked out in our garage this weekend and setting up the brooder next weekend. Can't wait! 11 days to go. ( to amend my earlier post. Tehe I was jumping the gun!

Getting batch of four chicks in three weeks, first-timer, and am wondering if I can put a chick in with first batch a week later. The Mille fleur that I so want won't be avail till the week following my first batch of 4. Do I have to have two brooders? To make it even more complicated, when the welsummers come in three weeks later, I really want one of those too......

It's usually best to keep chicks in the same brooder within a few days of age or you get bullying issues. Classic 'I am big you are little Mua-ha-ha-ha!' complex.

Bummer. I was afraid of that! And that was welsummers not welsh met. Thanks.
