The Expecting Chick Momma Thread

It's taken me a while but I'm finally 'expecting'. I ordered from McMurray with a delivery around Feb 11. Then I canceled that order and ordered from Ideal with a request of a Feb 6 delivery. Ideal came back and said my order would be ready Feb 11. Kids and I were so disappointed and so was dh. We are having a couple that he works for over for dinner on the 10th. They are from the Netherlands and the whole 'rural Texas living' thing is completely alien. They would have gotten such a kick out of seeing the chicks. So I called Ideal today and asked if there was any way we could move up my order. Turns out they were calling people to move up orders anyway so they bumped up my order! Chicks are coming next week!!!

6 Australorps
4 BO
4 EE
4 BR
4 RIR

We are only keeping 10. A friend has already told me that she will buy two of the BO off me when they are all feathered out. I've got other folks who have said they'll buy a couple here and there also. Hopefully the chicks will pay for themselves and their feed :D

Ideal has been really great to me, I have asked them many of questions over the week, since the babes will be here either the 7th or 8th. I did have a little issues with one of their sales reps yesterday and got charged $16 but am sure they'll refun it after my email tonight about some communication errors between me and the rep.

I HAVE CHICKS! Two are in the brooder now and two are still in the incubator. I had some trouble with one chick; it's yoke sac didn't absorb all the way. It is currently sitting in a tupperware style bowl in the brooder on a wet paper towel. And I still have 15 more cooking, 11 of which have a good chance and 4 of which were a gamble (couldn't see much or couldn't interperate what I was seeing).

Please cross your fingers for me though! I am getting nervous that it has been almost 12 hours since I have seen a pip. Not one of the eggs left has piped yet...

Day 22 starts at 7 am tomorrow...

Here are the two I pulled out while tending the yoke chick. EE or OEs... The darker one looks like it is developing soft chipmunk markings on its back.
