I just bought chicks on Craigslist.com and I must admitt that having grown children I've become use to saying "hey drive an hour or so this way & go get me ______". And I feel I drove them around so long they kind of owe me that. LOL Anyway I'd sent a kid to go pick up mine and frankly it was an after thought that these people would have a college age young man coming to their house to get chicks. Of course I imagine it was reassuring when these people heard the specific instructions that "my mom wants....." from his lips. My sons were a hand full but they are good boys & would do almost anything for "mom". LOL
Anyway I have to tell you I check craigslist ALL the time to see if there's chicks there that I might be interested in. I imagine some could be for dogs fights? & I always thought they used cats and other dogs for that. With chickens I would imagine that would be more of an issue with cock fights rights? Anyway I would think that it would be easier to hear a person and just not answer them through email than to have someone come up to you at a flea market... Because at a flea market you literally have to say "Ummm no I won't seel to you." If you're having someone email you you can kind of get a feel for who they are. & if you don't get that you can either move on or ask questions etc. The guy I bought my chickens from new *everything* about where these chicks were going etc. These are chickens you're letting go & so don't be affraid to be picky & ask a lot of questions. I wouldn't just write off craigs list because just like you feel there aren't enough of the members from here around you there may be someone LOOKING for chicks that don't see anyone on this web site around them either & they may not was 25 chicks! I'm tell ing you that was exactly the case for me here. I knew what I wanted & I found an ad on craigs list that had exactly what I wanted & I didn't have to worry about too many chicks or shipments etc. Give it a try & if you don't like it then at least you know.
