The Fathers Day Hatch-A-Long!!! The Last Day To Set eggs Is June 3rd!!!!

Ok, so I put 36 eggs in the bator today, barnyard mix, set the temp at 100 deg even,I couldnt find anything to measure the humidity inside the bator But in the room that I have the bator in is measureing right around 55 percent humidity, I added water to the first tray like it said to do but I didint fill it all the way up only half full, so Im wondering now if the humidity is 55 percent in the room with the bator is the humidity to high inside the bator? if anyone has any thoughts or suggestions I would love to hear them, hope my second attempt goes better then my first (only got 2 chicks out of a hatcher full of eggs) all the eggs had fully developed chicks but they all died in the eggs 2 days after they where suppose to hatch and didnt, just dont know what I did wrong unless I didnt have the temp high enough for hatch, anywho I;m trying again!!! wish me luckkk :)

Where did you get your eggs from?

if the room humidity is running at 55% I would dry out the water troughs and incubate dry.. check the air cells during incubation to make sure they are on track.. then add water ONLY if the air cells get too big too fast (numbers indicate days of incubation)

chances are your last batch either drowned in the eggs or died from carbon dioxide poisoning.. if you cracked open any of the eggs what were the chicks like?.. if they were extremely wet and there was any fluid in the eggs then it would indicate that they drowned.. if they were just moist chances are it was carbon dioxide poisoning.. there are a few other things that can cause late day death .. but it's usually one of those two

So my bator smelled like rotten eggs tonight so I had to do a full candle I pulled 25 shipped eggs. Quitters, blood rings, clear and a couple of stinkers, the insides were black , what causes that old eggs? Washing them? One was a duck I have seen those bad before but the others were chicken. I hope I found them all.

So minus 25 but I am setting 17 more tomorrow so the total is now 241. I'm not doing too bad considering they are mostly shipped egg. :D

55% room RH is about perfect for dry hatching if you have a styrofoam type incubator. Yinpu posted good diagrams to use when candling on the days listed for comparison. WHen you look on day 7 you can adjust the humidity to dry faster or lose slower.

I have very good hatches, usually, in my LG which is all foam when I dry hatch.

Also, X2 Yinepu's info.

Ooh... now both Maple and Kiki are broody!
