Need to go check my LG--it's soaking in the tub!! Don't dare wash it outside, I'm sure I would get sidetracked and the hens would peck it to peices!!

I have babies. 4 are successfully out and about with mama. One is in the house getting some extra attention. one didn't make it

got smashed in the nest.
Overall so far so good.

I am using the Hova Bator Genesis, and I just went on lockdown. I took out the egg turner(put them in egg cartons) and made sure #1 was full and filled #2. It has a fan and I am wondering if the humidity will get up to or if it supposed get up to around 80% with these incubators? Or all incubators?

80% is necessary for turkeys but not chickens. YOu should b ok with 55-60% RH.

80 may actually be misquoted and refer to 80 degrees WET BULB.

I go into my hatcher to refill or what ever needs doing if no external pips. I try to get in and out quickly if I do have external pips. I find I have chicks get stuck if they take too long to zip. Then I assist after 16 hours if I'm impatient, and 24 hours sometimes. To assist and remove them too soon could mean death, so patience is key here. THe chick needs to finish absorbing the blood in the network of veins thru out the inner membrane.

I have 15 (of 24) out here so far. Hopefully they are not done - there are about five more pips anyway. There was a chick under the broody yesterday morning, but there didn't seem to be any more last night. Hmm. I hope they keep hatching!

Well I still have nothing...not even a pip. It is getting so hard to not want to go open the incubator and look at them one more time. I am not going to ....just let God and Mother Nature do their work. Fingers Crossed they are just taking their sweet time.

FYI-- I do open my hatcher as needed. Especially if no pips.

Of course today was a total screw up--I wrote the wrong dates on the eggs for the set day--went to turn the eggs this morning and an egg is peeping and another pipped. Fortunately I cleaned the hatcher yesterday and it was warmed up. Marans eggs are in! Humidity is climbing.
