That is a dark brown egg. So prettyOne of our new chickens, Turkey, laid her first egg today. Stella has not laid one since the eclipse (her first egg). Still waiting for Clover, Crow, Mary, and Lulu to lay an egg. Lulu is squatting, so hopefully she will lay soon. View attachment 1123735
Has Maranda laid yet?Maranda was in the nesting box earlier today acting like she knew what she was doing but when I went out later, no egg.
No not yet. There are four or five who go check out the nesting boxes occasionally but haven't laid yet. Not sure if that's normal.Has Maranda laid yet?
Is she a black copper Maran or something similar? Thats what Maranda is so I'm looking forward to her eggs. One of our new chickens, Turkey, laid her first egg today. She was sold to us as a Mottled Java. She definitely does not appear to be that. My guess was Cuckoo Marans. I had started a thread on here asking others opinions, most who replied seemed to think a mixed breed. After I posted her egg they said Cuckoo Marans. So, my best guess at this point is Cuckoo Marans. Is she a black copper Maran or something similar? Thats what Maranda is so I'm looking forward to her eggs.![]()
