Oh my gosh, this is dangerous. I suppose I should plan a space into my coop for a setting hen. Pretty likely I'll go that route. I don't tend to moderate much and I sure love my animals.

Two days ago I didn't know what a silkie was, now I can't wait to get two!

Oh, they are just the cutest things! I had forgotten how tiny they are and how sweet the cheeping is.
As much as I had raising babies in the house, it is almost more fun to have them out with a mama. When I go out to check on progress and start talking to them, little heads pop up everywhere. They are getting really brave and all come piling out from under mama to check me out. I took Fifi a piece of cantaloupe and she was pecking away at it with all the babies gathered around trying to see what it was. They seem a lot brighter and more active than the ones I had inside. Is it because they feel more protected? Dunno. After they've had a chance to play Fifi gently pokes them back under and in they go. Soooooo sweet!

The other standard egg has a crack in it but no pip. Neither banty is showing any activity. I'm guessing the one due yesterday isn't going to hatch. Dunno about the one due tomorrow. We'll see!
