So after our very first ever hen has started laying cute little bantam eggs that we discovered last Saturday, my daughters and I have had "the itch" to get new baby chicks. Well tonight we broke down, and purchased four new baby chicks from our local Tractor Supply. We got two more bantams, one Rhode Island Red pullet, and one Barred Rock pullet. I introduce you to Zeppelin, Astro, Hazel, and finally Maya (pictured in order). We have serious addict problem now, lol.

:loveCongratulations!!! Chicken math strikes again! :wootChicks are so fun! I agree with the above post. You have a barred chick. Chick 2 looks to be a barred Cochin bantam but your other black chick is probably an austrolorpe. Your top baby might be a porcelain d'uccle but I can't tell for sure if there are fluffy cheeks or not. Congrats on them. They're super cute and sure to be amazing no matter what breed they are!:highfive:

They are adorable!!! Your second pic looks like our Barred Rocks when they were babies.
That one is actually one of the bantams, and has fur/feathers on it's legs and feet. The first two single pictures are both supposed to be bantams, and came out of the bantam tub. The third one is the Rhode Island Red, and the last one is supposed to be the Barred Rock. I'm a little concerned now, and think I need to take all of them back to day to see because I want to make sure that I got what we wanted, and I'm still too new to chicken raising to know what they are, lol. Thanks for the reply!

Thank you so much for the reply, as I don't know enough about chickens yet to know if I was given what I wanted. I googled the names of those you stated above, and the two bantams I received (the first two pictures) definitely look like what I found on google, and they do both of have fur/feathers on their legs, so it will be interesting to see how they turn out. The other black chick that I received (the last picture) is what is supposed to be a Barred Rock, but it does look like the Australorp chick pictures that I just saw on google, so I will definitely be taking her back because my daughter specifically wanted a Barred Rock for their pretty coloring. Thanks again for all your help. Hopefully I will learn the ropes pretty quick in our new venture with chickens. :jumpy:thumbsup

Yw! Your Cochin should have the barred pattern. too. When you see a black chick with the yellow dot in its head like chick #2 that indicate barring in almost all cases.
