The Floods

I'm sorry this has turned into a huge fight. I don't think it was meant to be. Today there was a hero firefighter in our town who jumped in the disesal filled waters not caring about his own safety to save a train worker as the train and the bridge collapsed on him into the river:( We help each other out in the Midwest and I think that's all that the OP meant to say is how the Midwest helps each other out. Only those that live in the Midwest would understand. So stop your fighting everyone. I feel awful for the hurricane victims also and all the awful things that happened to them.

The world is always changing and no mater where you are you have to watch the signs and help your self!!!!!! Whether it is Katrina, floods, tornados, or earthquakes, someone is going to be affected. Now people look back and see what the TV wants us to see and that is how things are judged. The biggest thing we all have to learn is watch what is going on around you. I dont understand how people that hear about flooding 100 miles north of them dont move things to higher ground. This is has been an exceptionally bad year for all sorts of weather. We have flooded worse the anything in history for these areas and people are left dumb founded. Some people tried to move stuff but still lost it. It is the people who refuse to leave that frustrate me the most. We had people refusing to leave and the firemen took names from them so that they could notify next of kin that thier family members are refusing to leave and will probably die. These people put not only themselves in danger but rescue people too. Insurance compmanies are using stupid little excuses to try and not pay. Life goes on and those who help themselves learn the most. We have many tiny comunities that were almost if not totally wiped out from the flood but as soon as it hit major cities they were all but forgotten by our news stations. There are good and bad in all comunities and it is always the larger distasters that bring out the worst. KUDOS for those in all areas that have worked hard to make things better. The worst thing about the flooding of the farmers it that is will not only affect the farmers but everyone else. We have finally had a dry spell but not all of the fields will be able to be replanted. This in turn could affect food prices in the future. What hits in IA, MN, MO, IL and all the states south of us will still affect the whole US with prices in the future. Pray for everyone and please help your neighbors. Jenn

I am more offened than I can say at what the first poster on this thread shared and it genuinely horrifies me to think that people in my beloved country are passing such nasty stuff around.

Chicken lovers, all: people are people, and they react with good and with evil. Sharing a sensational story of one simply awful violent crime, as another poster did, just fans the flames of nasty, shallow racism.

Of course some people in New Orleans behaved badly - meanwhile most sheltered each others' grandparents, each other's children, fed their neighbors, and waited, stranded, for a federal government that did not do a thing to help. Should I think less of the brave citizens of Iowa or elsewhere because one of their neighbors held up a convenience store or ran a meth lab?

Private citizens saved each other's asses again and again in New Orleans, with many acts of great dignity and courage, and the rumors of high crime rates at the Superdome turned out to be just as maliciously unfounded as what another poster refers to here, about high crime rates in Houston after evacues came.

Yes, you can find the RUMORS if you search for them, but why spend your life searching, through stinking mud, looking for garbage? Actual statistics do not support this stuff, and I wont even dignify it by calling it crap, since I love what my chickens produce.

Please don't forward nasty, sly, racist innuendo to our beloved BYC. Chickens come in every color and temperament and so do we. Stand up, people, for each other!

Love and peace.

No one here has said word one about color and why you would assume the people that I’m talking about are black I don’t know because they aren’t. One was white, one was Asian and the third was black but I don’t even know what that has to do with anything.

This has been blown way out of proportion and I can see that I was wrong for posting it in the first place. I should have realized that it would hurt some feelings and I’m truly sorry. It was in very bad taste and I guess I just didn’t think.

Please except my apologies and I’m going to ask one of the mods to remove it.

The OP requested we close this thread, although it was going to be closed anyway for obvious reasons. I think you all know better than to flame on this forum.
