She winced at the pet name.
"I wanna apprentice with you." she said bluntly.

He stared at her for a moment, inner lids of his eyes slowly closing and blurring the brilliant green stare. "What?"
Silv had heard what she had said, but he just had to ask again out of partial stupefaction. He had known the dragonness for less than a day, and boom. She was asking for an apprenticeship? She wasn't even of Caronia!

Jester looked away, refusing to meet her eyes. It was bad enough that he had changed his mind, and now she was asking him why.. Just go before I change my mind! "Hurry." He said, ignoring her statement and still looking away. "There will be others around soon."

She took a few more wary steps, head held low and wings starting to unfurl.
So close to death... Her heart was starting to race again, sending throbbing pulses down her back.
Now or never. She wasn't sure, by his words, how long he would keep the offer open. And if earlier was any indication, she was better off not testing her luck.
Frill bolted, launching herself through the opening between the dragon and cave mouth; pecking his cheek and disappearing into air. She would not slow, or look back. Ever.
Some of the old Jester was there, but how much, she didn't know. And the new one... The new one was terrifying. This Caronia remake of him was capable of anything, from gutting her in the air to far worse.

"You heard what I said." she said coolly.
Well this was dumb she berated herself you shoulda known better, Bianka.

"I did indeed, however, I wasn't sure if you did." He replied, "An apprenticeship?...."
He gave a here a brief moment of silence before turning and continuing his trek to Caronia, "I'll debate it."

Jester could feel her weariness, it radiated from her like heat waves and bounced off the cave walls. He felt miserable, wretched even. She was afraid of him, that feeling was even worse then what he knew was coming for him in Caronia. He turned his head to follow her with his eyes as she left and sighed. This was it, the end. He had always known that what they had would never work, they lived on opposite sides of the world. Yet he still felt sad, empty and cold. For quite some time he had been living on the enjoyment he got from seeing her from time to time. Like a junkie who got high on drugs... but now the drugs were gone. Rubbing the back of his hand across his face he felt the red scratches on his cheek, they didn't hurt so much now. He almost wished they did, they were all he had left of her.

After sitting in the cave for a good hour he finally left, letting the familiar rush of air stream across his scales. The feeling was comforting, but didn't take his mind off Frill. One day they would meet again under different circumstances, perhaps even a battle. What would he do then?

Once Gabriel had left Alistair and Camilla began gathering the required materials to build a sling for Henry. Using a combination of vines and leaves they managed to create something rough, but study enough to carry the large dragon. It took both dragons to roll him onto it and getting into the sky was slow and labour intensive and Camilla was greatful for the cool air as they got higher. In some ways she agreed with Alistair, on his comment about their training. She supposed that he was indeed right, but the fact that someone needed to be killed for them to figure it out was baffling. How could she not have seen this coming?

They landed on the outskirts of the city to avoid the citizens, they didn't need to find out like this. Stephan was waiting for them, Amaria had notified him of the situation and he had readied a place for Henry until his burrial tomorrow morning. "Good God..." He breathed, helping them gently lower his body. "What did this?"

"A dragon, a highly trained dragon with sadistic intentions." Camilla replied, her voice hard and sad at the same time.

Stephan glanced at her, he knew her well enough to know what she was thinking just from her eyes. "Lets bring him inside. I haven't told anyone anything yet, but they know something is wrong and they're growing uneasy."

"Okay." She turned to Alistair. "Call a city wide meeting in an hour. I want to check on Charlotte, and then we'll break the news. Gather the council as well for after the meeting."

Alistair nodded and hurried off, leaving Camilla and Stephan alone with Henry.

Lilith ducked around a tree and left, heading back towards her den in the heart of Caronia. She had made another enemy in Bianka and was almost glad, it made her feel alive and refreshed to add another one to the growing list of dragons who either wanted her dead or at least to get some kind of gruesome revenge. Some called it stupid to make an enemy in nearly everyone you came across, but not her. Life was short, with hers probably being shorter then most, and she wasn't about to waste time playing nice.

"Earlier this evening, Henry and Charlotte were reported missing, having not returned from the field they were working in." Camilla stated, hoping her voice remained steadier then she was feeling. The whole ordeal was happening rather fast. She knew that most everyone knew this already, but it felt good to say it out loud. "A search party consisting of Alistair, Gabriel, Amaria and myself was sent out to find them but when we got there..." She had to paused as her throat tightened. "But when we got there Henry was already dead."

Silence hung in the air, not even a breath of wind stirred the air. The crowd of dragons stared at her blankly, a sea of eyes all focused on her. She forced herself to look back with flinching, she knew what they were thinking. She had failed them, it was her job to protect them and a very well respected member of the community had been slaughtered right under her nose. She was as humiliated as she was devastated to lose such a close friend, but she couldn't let that show. It was also her job to calm those fears before her own, and she was determined to do so. "We found Charlotte in the tree almost directly above Henry's body and Amaria flew her back to the city immediatly. She was injured and unconsious and is now recovering with Ester. We are hoping that she can give us a description of the attacker so that we may track him or her down and deliver justice."

"You think it was another dragon?" Maggie asked, her voice echoing with shock and disbelief.

"I do, the marks on Henry's body were consistant with that of a dragon." Camilla replied promptly. "I have not yet had time to discuss this with the council but when I do you will be informed of the changes that will be inforced to further protect the citizens of this city." She backed away from the ledge she had been speaking from and turned to look at Stephan. Behind her the crowd had begun murmuring to one another, quiet and scared as though they expected something to kill them if they talked too loud. Just from the sound of their voices it was clear that many had their doubts about the safety of the city. "They don't believe in me anymore, Stephan." She said miserably.

"They are in shock." He said softly, nudging her flank with his head. "They will see soon enough."

"See what?"

"That you are a good queen, the best."

At that Camilla had to laugh, she had been expecting something more meaningful then that, but from Stephan it was as good as gold to her. "Thank you."
