This is my time with an incubator. I usually leave the hens do all the work! Those are so cool. I have never done that. It's pretty amazing.
that is very impressive. Nicely down. How do you provide heat to your chicks, heat lamp?So we had this pile of scrap wood, we was just going to toss on the burn pile. Also had a bent up rabbit cage I planned to scrap too. Well I got the bright idea yesterday to build a chick brooder. I mainly wanted to retire my dog cages! Lol So I tore apart the rabbit cage, did some hammering... didnt bother to measure a thing!
Voilà this crude chick brooder is born!

Had some old kitchen cabinet doors, slapped one one for easy access. Forgot I had a piece of hardware cloth, so I tore off my plywood top and very generically slapped it on. It only needs to be cat proof. So it will be sufficient! Lol I wanna say its roughly 40" x 35" x 20" I couldn't find a tape measure, or a regular claw hammer. So I used a 2lb sledge to assemble it all. I swear my husband purposely took all the tools!

I used to use a heat lamp. But since it burned out, I'm going to replace it with a more reliable/safer heat. So probably a heat plate.that is very impressive. Nicely down. How do you provide heat to your chicks, heat lamp?
