I wish I had an update on Rori chicks. Hatch day come, both externally pipped. Then a big rat snake came and ruined it. Ugh if it isn't one thing, it is seriously another. Then to top it off. I walk passed my back door, only to see a coyote sitting in my yard like a dog. Watching my chickens. I tried to sneak out the door with the AR, but it seen me and bolted. My big pit Shelby was laying on the porch sleeping. Chickens didn't even see it. Now I know when it's coming through. So I'll be waiting on it. Rori been back with the flock, past few days. She was pretty sad looking when I took the other chick she stepped on, during the snake fiasco. Showed her and told her sorry. We will try again next year. It's a bummer, but not a whole lot I can do. Mother nature always takes the best of them.

But on a seriously fricken awesome note!!! My hubby is going to build me a new coop, for my birthday. I've decided on a 8x12, open shed plan. With 4ft door, outside access nest box, windows, and good ventilation. With a small feed room. My original coop, is just an ancient old shed. It seen it's better days. We are going to put it on the back side of the fence. So the chickens can come into the fenced area with the dogs. But I will still have a small attached enclosed run, so if we go on vacation. It will be easier for someone to come take care of them, without accidental escapes. Lol

Fairwell Groot. I will miss your photos. :frow
I'll miss him, but I have to weed out the roosters that I'm not keeping. I'm still not sure what to do with Turtle yet. I think I may rehome him, and see if I can't get a pullet. I wish I could find sexed silkie chicks, or started pullets. Hard to come by here.

Turtle and Irene went to their new home. I'll miss them. I figure Gmork has been the most watchful of the 3 boys, so I think he will make a good rooster as he matures. Plus he will possibly throw me some frizzle babies, when the time comes from my bantam hens. I'm not having much luck with getting silkie hens, so I crossed turtle off. I dont care for the turkens with their red necks. Lol If I had silkie hens, I would of penned turtle we with them. See yins on the other side! I wish them well on their new journey.

Babies all out enjoying the sun. I'm going to pic up a large dog box, add a door with a latch and build a small run off of it. So I have a small grow out, or quarantine box and run. My friend brought me her lone brahma chick, since I already have 2 the same age. Plus one of my brahma is looking awful large and tall.... depending on when we start building the new coop, will depend on if I'll keep a brahma rooster!

I got the dog box for the babies. I am going to do some modifications, and add a small like 2 x 5 ft run off it. It will be sufficient for them till the other young chicks get a big more familiar with the flock. My poor husband is really feeling the chicken wrath this year. Lol

This silkie. I really dont know about it. It acts like a pullet. But sometime it looks like a rooster to me. Then Gmork did he wing cut to it today, so now I think he is just as confused as me. I dont know. I'm about to give up on finding a silkie hen.

Gmork has a load of new feathers coming in, I look forward to seeing him in another month. So far he is proving to be a great protege! Sometimes I see him staring at Falkor. Like he is learning, from a master. They work well together as a team. I think he will make a good boy for the bantam hens.

GIANT HORNET NEST! I'm super allergic to bees, so I only took a picture and got the heck away.
