yeah I had one do that with me and I have worked with him with the stick and everything and he's bound and determined! Even with me working him with the stick he STILL flaps his wings at me but wont get near me but I don't trust him to turn my back on him because you can tell he's itching. He's head set so I just took the other roo for my main roo. So I switched Roos and have him penned up and planning on putting him in a pot if this one continues to be nice. He's alerted the girls twice so far and I didn't know what he was doing since the other one had never done that. But when he did it they ran for cover. He's turning out to be a good roo! He sticks with me and hasn't ever tried to jump me stays with the majority of the girls. I don't want to pass that aggressive gene on in my eggs so I think the aggressive one will go into a pot. Since the second roo had been dominated by the other roo for so long he let the girls work his butt over. They pulled out feathers all around his tail until he only had 3 feathers left but I think that's because they were bored. I was like ok buster you gotta man up and stand up to these girls. lol BUT today I saw him do something that made me roll in laughter. I let them out to free range and I always let the penned up roo out to run around in the run while they all free range. I had opened the gate for them all to get out and forgot i had left the gate open and went in the other end opening it for the girls so they could get in to lay their eggs. All of a sudden I heard all kinds of commotion and I was like what in the world is that? Ran toward the run and then saw the door open and I was like OHHHH NOOOOO I left the gate open and he's OUT! Honey the nice roo was going at the aggressive roo with his feet and he was up in the air. It blew me away! Every time the aggressive roo would come toward him he was up in the air at him with his feet. I started trying to get my hands on the aggressive one and he wont let me near him since I trained him to stay away from me. So I was like HOW in the world am I going to get this thing BACK INSIDE the pen because I have NO net and was here by myself. arg! Do you know the good roo started herding the aggressive roo and I got on one side of him and we kept doing that until he got close to the pen. He wanted to turn back but the good roo started fighting at him again and he went into the roosting area while i was on one side and the good roo was on the other side of him. It blew me away and I don't know IF the good roo was aware of what he was doing but I was shocked. I figure he was trying to get him away from his harem that is HIS now. He's very protective and even with me he gets in between me and the hens but has never flapped his wings at me or anything. I think he's going to turn out to be a good roo.Wow, no wonder my rooster is cranky, he's floating in a sea of hormones! He is the sweetest thing, I can pet him. But he came toe-to-toe with me today when I was trying to herd one of the ladies inside, and growled at me. He never growls at me.
Anyway I sure hope yours doesn't do that anymore because it's not fun having to worry about one jumping you 24-7 and keeping your eyes on him. Not that I don't do this one like that but not worried about him like I was the other one. Good luck with yours and I sure hope that was it on the growling. :-D
