The Front Porch Swing

@Blooie is Kendra still waiting on the other set of braces? Didn't you say she was going to get another set that will help keep her feet pointed in the right direction. I can see she had some braces on. I am so amazed at how far she has come in this short time.

Hi Blooie, it's been a while since I was on. Still having massive computer problems. Ten thousand ads a day. I kid you not. Getting it fixed next week. It should have been done correctly last time but I also wanted to read something and need to added an update on Java. Bing!!!! That's the virus. I'll learn. Being raised southern style I was firmly taught that you did not look or speak to a person in a wheelchair, or blind etc. Not polite. It took me a looooong time to realize this is another form of racism. I make it a point to speak to everyone today. Black, white, latin, wheelchair, blind, dogs, cats. Well, maybe not the cats. I have to draw the line somewhere. ha. My grand plans to order 40 ISA Brown pullets this month and get a huge garden started has gone down in dust. Spent the night in the ER a couple of nights ago and there went my chick and gardening money. Quickly. I think that this is God telling me to get the surgery done on my knee before I get caught up in chickens. It was just a bladder infection but put me down in a hurry. I don't want to do it. Nope. But I hear him talkin'. lol

Sorry to hear about your hospital visit, glad you are feeling better. No-one wants to go through the surgery, but man the rewards are worth it. I had a couple of co-workers that had knee replacement surgery and both of them were so glad to have it done, over with and their mobility back. You could just see the difference in their attitudes. And start small with your projects if you can. Maybe just a couple of chickens for eggs for yourself and some tomatoes in a pot.

Doggone it, Linda! It stinks that you've had so many problems with that pesky computer - I miss seeing that bright orange flower on the side of a post!

Yeah, Kendra was fitted for her KAFO's (knee/ankle orthotics) but there was a problem with the shoes they attach to - we didn't have any that would fit and they didn't get any! So she went through the fitting and as soon as Shriner's Hospital gets the special order shoes they'll attach the twisted cables to them, then send us the set. Our physical therapist here can make the fine adjustments. During the trial fitting it was amazing how straight her feet suddenly were, especially the left one. So we're really excited to get them. In the meantime she's wearing her new AFO's, which help with her ankles but do nothing to keep her legs pointed correctly.

As much as you don't want to, I'd sure be leaning toward the surgery. Ken has never regretted having his done, and my hip replacement is now 12 years old and still going strong! Nobody wants to face surgery, I know. But sometimes ya gotta do whatcha gotta do.

Yay,Kendra! *confession* I can't see the vid on this pc but as soon as I swap for the tablet I will be queing it up. Look, it's Kendra really soon. -->

An elderly woman and her little grandson, whose face was sprinkled with bright freckles, spent the day at the zoo. Lots of children were waiting in line to get their cheeks painted by a local artist who was decorating them with tiger paws.

"You've got so many freckles, there's no place to paint!" a girl in the line said to the little fella.

Embarrassed, the little boy dropped his head. His grandmother knelt down next to him. "I love your freckles. When I was a little girl I always wanted freckles," she said, while tracing her finger across the child's cheek. "Freckles are beautiful."

The boy looked up, "Really?" "Of course," said the grandmother. "Why just name me one thing that's prettier than freckles."

The little boy thought for a moment, peered intensely into his grandma's face, and softly whispered, "Wrinkles."
