Just got off Facetime with Jenny. Kendra looks better but they are still going to do another round of IV antibiotics at 6 tonight. On oxygen her O2 level stays between 90 and 94. Without it she drops back to 84 - 86. They taught her to do a nebulizer - only part of the whole hospitalization thing she thinks is fun, thank goodness! And last night they were going to send up to Powell Hospital and have an oxygen thingy sent down because she couldn't do the mask or nasal cannula. But some intrepid nurse after I left got her to use the mask so that was cancelled and she's using it just fine. Her temp is hovering at just around 100, sometimes spikes but always comes back down to 99, so that's great news.

I'm heading up there after a shower and finishing my coffee. Jenny has my nebulizer at her house from when she had her pneumonia two weeks ago, plus she has home oxygen. We'll see if we can persuade them to give us the liter amount for Kendra, meds for the nebulizer, and a clean mask and tubing for the oxygen.

Thinking about y'all, Blooie.

Lost my mama to pneumonia (she had COPD though and ended up with MRSA in her lungs). Her oxygen was 74 when we got her in the ER

Kendra will be alright, she's a fiesty one!

I confess ahead of time that I just copied and pasted this from another thread so I didn't have to retype it. Not a habit of mine until lately, for some reason!

Update - after a disastrous evening, Kendra rallied during the night and is doing so much better she gets to come home today. She'll be on home oxygen and the nebulizer, but Jenny had this same thing two weeks ago so she has all that stuff at home already. The surprise of the overnight hours came around 12:00am, when Jenny got violently ill. She was taken over to ER while one of the nurses stayed at Kendra's bedside. Based on what she was describing and what they observed, they ran a quick upper GI series on her and whattaya know - Jenny has an active ulcer. Now, I don't pretend to know the difference between an ulcer and an active ulcer, but they do so that counts I guess. She had the same doctor Kendra has - he just chuckled and told Jenny, "Well, it's not like you don't have any stress in your life!" Between a job, a hubby and home, a 9 year old with mild autism and a 3 year old with Spina Bifida, her stress level should be non-existent, right? Anyway, they'll both be home today. Thanks for all the prayers and support! Need to copy and paste this to the Front Porch so I don't have to type it all again, then I need to run up to Walmart (it's only 50 miles one way) and pick up Jenny and Kendra's prescriptions! Thank you all again!

And thank you, my faithful Porch Sitters! Sometimes I think, "What I wouldn't give for a boring life!"

They will probably put Jenny on antibiotics because if I am not mistaken some ulcers while started by acid and stress are contributed to by infection...

Its all good sounds like they have a most excellent doctor... whew...
