The Front Porch Swing

He was so funny, Sour.....the only thing we had to use for BYC was my phone, and it's not easy to do the typing and maneuvering on there in the first place when you ARE familiar with the site, let alone when you're trying to wing it completely. He said, "Should I just use this NFC page? It was the first one I saw." Um, yeah, Ken, that would be fine. "How many other pages should I post it on?" Just there will be fine, honey...believe me, word will get around." And it did, so thanks for that. Saved his eyesight and his sanity.

Good, then with a concrete veneer he won't feel it when I clock him upside the head with a cast iron skillet..oh, wait...I can't pick up the cast iron skillets for 2 weeks. He'll have to clock himself and give me credit for it.

I know, he worries. But you can do just so much hovering before the hoveree has had enough. He had to go to Cody for an appointment he couldn't miss and boy, was he fighting leaving me here by myself. But Jenny is home right across the street (no school today) and Tammy is two blocks down. So to make good on my promise to call them right away if I had a problem, I've had my phone in my back pocket all day. BUT I did manage to get 2 loads of laundry done (no sweat - the washer and dryer are in the bathroom along with the hamper so no carrying there), unloaded our huge 18" dishwasher, and did a little dusting. I left the vacuuming and folding the jeans for him when he gets home. And I felt so much better being just a little busy. Took me longer than usual because of this monstrosity on my arm, and I stopped a couple of times to rest, but it felt good to be doing something. He just called and said he was on his way home.

Boy, you are determined that I finish that book, aren't you? Writer's block. Can't figure out how to get heroine out of the tree.

So you say "Ken, I KNOW you love me and I KNOW you are worried about me but how much in your back pocket would you want me to be if the roles were reversed?" And then give him

Time to go over to Jenny's to visit, Ken won't feel the need to hover if you are already supervised

I'll send you some of my pullets that go up into the ornamental cherry in the yard. They can help the heroine down!

Near as I can tell, you don't even need to write anything at the moment! Just gather up all the shorts you have posted here and organize them in some fashion. "We" can go from there. I would be VERY surprised if you couldn't find a BYC collaborator who is a great illustrator for "visual" content. Let's see, we need one of you, your uncle and a handful of milk-duds to start

I bet you have plenty more stories in your head. Remember, we think you are writing an Erma Bombeck style book, not a novel

Bruce, can I adopt you? You have such a grasp of the subtle nuances of relationships that it's sometimes scary!

Um, would it not be weird to adopt some who is a few weeks older than you? But if you do adopt me, can I get a puppy?

I am guilty of hovering.... I have lurked through this whole thread. I have belatedly giggled at your trials and jokes, furrowed my brow at your worries, and then realized I was looking at things from forever ago so I skipped a few pages and lurked some more.

Oddly enough this is one of my favorite threads. You all are so full of good advice and genuine care. It is really fabulous to see. Thank you.

Welcome to the porch. I don't spend a lot of time here because I can't hold still that long. When I get a bit older, I will settle into the rockers.

Are you sure you're older? I thought I was older. I'll give you a puppy right about now. Little miss not so very smart had 3 "not really accidents" on my floor today.

Welcome, Serena! So, no more lurking. Pull up a bucket, and as the newest lurker come out of hiding, you are officially nominated. I here by nominate Serena, and do I hear a second?... followed by a show of hands. It's now Serena's turn to feed the turtle. Last time I saw him, he was hiding in the geranium pot. He likes crickets and meal worms. Oh... you also get to bring a snack. Part of the rules when you come out of lurkdome! I'll provide the beverages: Iced tea with mint and a splash of lemon, and a pot of Iced coffee.
