My kids were kept very healthy, so not much snot nosin' going on....

Good strategy!!! (Why don't other people think of that?)

Quote: LOL Balut is usually duck eggs incubated to 14 days then hardboiled.... Yep Nope.... Not going there. You are supposed to eat them with Beer.... aint enough beer on this planet ...

Though I do want to try my hand at Salt preserving chicken eggs. Supposed to make fresh eggs last about 90 days or so without refrigeration. There are only a few things I wont eat. Or at least try once or twice. I always give a restaurant a chance that they messed up.... Or the cook.... For instance Liver.... hated it when I was a kid. I was forced to clean my plate when it was cooked so hard that you could use it for shoe leather. I have NO clue why mom cooked it because she hated it too... Dad liked it though.

It wasnt till I was about 25 and forced to have liver once per week on Weight Watchers. There was a little restaurant Pappy Parkers Fried Chicken.... That served up deep fried chicken livers. I figured I could chunk em up into pill sized pieces and swallow them un chewed if I had to. OH MANN those were gooooood. So I bit the bullet and learned how to cook chicken livers myself. Without the deepfrying and the breading..... Those were even better. After that I found a sit down restaurant that served liver. OMG that was good too... though I had to use A1 sauce and think of it as beef. To this day I use A1 but not so much but I like the combo.

Oh I agree about the "Ick Face". The worst offender in my family is a 50-something year old mother/grandmother. The contortions she will turn her face into is so embarrassing around other people! It doesn't matter where we happen to be at the time, a family gathering, a restaurant, ect. She starts that mess before the food ever touches her lips! Worse that a kid I tell ya! My mom has always had a saying about that, "don't turn your nose up". lol

I would probably try one of those eggs but I sure don't see me liking it but real bad smells, no no no. lol

She needs to be sent to a special Summer Camp, IMO. Where she is forced to do nothing but watch silent movies of her own face, and possibly clean the toilets when she has earned a break.

I like Worcestershire Sauce when I cook up either onions or mushrooms, so it's always a part of my Liver & Onions recipe.

I know! Right? How very simple and effective!

Speaking of custard. I think this is a little weird, but my brain made the connection between chickens and all birds, not me. My husband has a sun conure and it's been laying eggs. Are they edible?

It's an egg...it's edible. Eat it and let us know the flavor! Folks even eat sea turtle eggs and such, so an egg is pretty much an egg, though I'm sure there are various nuances in flavor.

Oh lawd, now "rescue kidneys"! LOL I hate to possible ruin it for you but have you ever seen those kidneys when something went wrong and they are swollen up out of that rib cavity three or four times their original size? I just can't seem to get past that. LOL

I've never seen that before! Never once in all the hundreds of chickens I've "rescued"...er...processed. Who would eat a bird with diseased kidneys????

That means all the impurities that they were supposed to be filtering out of the blood and body were not getting filtered and they are still in the body. Ick.

Yep, major ICK! A lot of people have ate chickens that had swollen kidneys. If the processing plants catch them they might suck them out with a vacuum, maybe. lol Here's a pic of some good ol' swollen kidneys for you. Ick! They look like brains.

I think the ick face isn't appropriate for social situations but at home it's sort of okay...if you are around close family and friends who will not offend. My DIL feels it's appropriate to offend anyone and everyone with her ick face and also uses verbalization. She's also lacking in most social graces and accepted forms of good manners, so it may not be her fault. Maybe it's a family culture thing with some people?

Those eggs with the baby duck in them? Only if I were starving. Putting whole baby animals in one's mouth, guts, beak, bones and all is just savage unless one is starving. I don't care how good it may or may not taste, one is eating a baby that was purposely killed before it could be hatched simply to indulge some person's whim. It's repulsive to even think about it. I'll allow myself a full body, all over spasm of ICK on that one.

OH, MY ICK, THAT'S SICK!!! Nope...never saw anything like that in a chicken in my life. Never in a store bought chicken either...because I pay close attention to the "good stuff" when I purchase store chicken, which is hardly never since the 80s and early 90s~didn't even do it much then.

That's just scary....do folks actually eat those infected chickens?
