She was ok after about 20 minutes! She cried to begin with, and it bled alot, so that freaked her out a little! Also had this going on today too! LOL

I just have a rescue dog ... allegedly a lab ... golden color and more trim and hound-like than most labs. He is just about perfect for me. We are always together. I adopted him when he was 11 months old ... he'd flunked his first family and I can't really tell why except he was a humper. He is willing enough to be trained and very sweet. Not a guard dog, but he would probably hunt. He doesn't mess with the chickens but I don't expect him to leave them alone if a human isn't watching him.

I'm thinking about getting a heeler too. I've heard that some lines are more high strung (as in energetic) than others. Do y'all think that's true?

Yep! My one sis had a wonderful heeler...sweet, smart and just a wonderful dog. She bred her to another dog of the same....he was too smart for words and just a good dog. The only pup that survived was just horrible. Aggressive, stupid and more aggressive. Not one thing to admire about that pup. Don't know how that happened but he couldn't herd, he was bad around other animals and children, he was aggressive to visitors and he wouldn't mind.

It's the luck of the draw with herd and hunting dogs bred for work...most are high strung and need to move a good bit and also need firm ownership. It never ceases to amaze me the number of folks who get these working, dominant breeds~who live sedentary and docile lives. Sort of like all the folks that own pit bulls...seems like the soft, ineffectual humans gravitate towards the hard to manage breeds. I've got three sisters like that...no business owning tough dogs but they always seem to get them. One has pit bulls and a heeler...and numerous other dogs as well. She can't control any of them and her pits kill and eat cats, kill each other, etc. Heck, she even had a smart, sweet lab that she ruined and couldn't control. I don't think she should be owning any animals whatsoever.

I've had Australian Shepherds and a Border Collie but never had a Blue Heeler. Always liked them though. I've had Dobermans, great ones and bad ones. Probably them and the Ausssies are my favorite breeds. I've thought about a German Shepherd, not crazy at all about pitbulls.

I have looked at Great Pyr pups two different times but never got one. To me the parents usually look... not built good at all. Maybe that's how they all are...?
