I'm so eggcited!! I emailed the local farm that has Black/Blue Copper Marans for sale, and my chicks will be hatching this weekend!! They will

be laying dark brown eggs for my rainbow egg cartons!! They don't look like the nice chocolate color, but they will definitely be waaay dark.

Update on my weird looking hen. She still looks that way, although not as bad. She must just be a pig.

That sounds like a really neat idea Bee! Pics of food, fire, stars and links to spring sounds. I believe I will need a tutor for that one. I do have two little chicks that hatched... I could show pictures of them if you'd like? Terrible hatch rate but these little bantam babies are so cute and tiny! I'll be trying a different incubation method for the next group.

TW wants us to have this celebration when winter is over to celebrate spring....she'll have to tell us when she considers spring has sprung!

Around here it's still winter...sorta...still in teens and twenties at night and thirties to forties in the days....BUT..the robins are coming in, I've heard bird song staking out territories already, my chickens are tearing up this yard like crazy and there's a softness to the air and the nights, even when it's cold. I think spring is just a breath away......

And I've got my tackle box all stocked..just need to put on new line and make up some leaders....I'm ready.
