The Front Porch Swing

Good morning everyone. I want to thank everyone for the help.
I'll be going to the store and setting up my arsenal.
Only problem with the ivomec is my husband is pretty much against it.
I may have to just go with the permethrin dust.
In my researches I have found other products I could spray my coop down with so I continue to check those out online.
It will be a busy day treating all the birds and stripping the coop down.
I have a wood stove so I also have plenty of wood ash too.
Last night I went out to coop to see if I could find any evidence of mites in coop or on birds and still saw nothing. Still intend to treat everyone and coop though.
Also, when I was shutting birds up for the night, I did another check on some of them. Everyone got on the roost but one. Guess what I witnessed....she jumped up and grabbed "skirt" feathers of the others as they sat on roost. I dont think she was being a bully per se, it looked like she wanted to get into a certain spot on roost and wanted someone to move. I wonder if she does that every night?? That still doesn't explain her feather loss in the same area though. Ironically she is the tiniest of all of them.
Thank you again.
hugs to everyone

I hope everyone has a beautiful day!

Why don't you just initially treat the birds, the roosts and the nest boxes. Stripping down a whole coop, particularly if you have valuable deep litter cultures~don't know if you do~is pretty drastic. Get some good ol' castor oil to rub on those butt wounds, dust your gals and the places they sleep and nest and then just watch what happens.

Give it a little time and watch what happens. I wouldn't spray your coop and whatnot until you see if the body treatment will work or not work. For sure and certain you will not be able to kill every little parasite in the coop/run/yard environment...they can just come on back, but you can protect, and prevent them from feeding on, the food source.

It's a dang good thing I don't have a crop! LOL
Ahem. I have one, it's called fat-getting-older-sagging-chin.

Woot, I'm so excited! I'm going to the feed and farm store tomorrow to purchase a couple more chicks to add to the brooder box. I want to have a good amount of late-summer laying pullets and maybe I will have a couple extra that I can sell, God willing.

I got so much work done today, though! I finished my internship and came home to finish painting an egg. My sister's cockatiel laid an egg and she told me to blow it out and paint it, funnily enough, haha! I told her it'd have to wait until tomorrow when I have more time. I didn't want to tell her that I'm afraid the egg will be too small to blow out, haha!

A lot of time went into it. I'd like to hang it on the porch, if y'all don't mind. It looks lovely in the sunset.

It's beautiful. There's a lady about an hour away that I give green eggs to on occasion for her to blow out and decorate but I've never seen one completed! I like it! Our conure just laid an egg and it's pretty small, but it's definitely tough. Too bad I can't just give it to you.

Ya oughta make your...ahem...sister give you another break and take that nephew of yours fishin'.

Nothing like draggin' a line to give you time to think, talk to God, and work out things in your heart. I like it better than hunting because you can do things with your hands...or not, if you want to just let things float. Soak up some sunshine(and Vit. D), listen to the stream....oh, it's all so peaceful!

We've got a fishing trip planned with the boys up in the mountains in May. Will be grillin', fishin', and relaxin' for four days.

We don't often get times like that when everyone is together anymore, so this is a blessing straight from the Lord!
That sounds wonderful. Sometimes it's so nice just to get away and be quiet with yourself.

On a side note. Bumblefoot in our duck is gone. I caught her limping last week and we did one soak in epsom salts and coated the splinter area with tincture of iodine and she's not limping anymore.

GUESS WHAT???? I have 6 chicks!!! 3 Americaunas and 3 Speckled Sussexs. The feed store is getting Australorps in on the 19th and I put my money down for 3. Guess who is smiling???? DH has the camera, will post pictures later tonight.
