I have been lurking here for a few days, ever since my friend told me this is where she like to hang out...took me awhile to figure she wasn't really sitting home on her front porch!
She is a very dear loving person. She said and I quote "There is nothing like a good friend!"
That's the truth but it takes a good friend to have a good friend.
I hope you all are as blessed as I am with someone as dear that not only loves our LORD but also shares the chicken "addiction"
She is the perfect enabler!
BTW you all have become my favorite "swingers" and look forward to hanging out on this porch also when I can, hope you all have room for one more on this wonderful swing.

So glad you came....now...don't sit on that one bucket...that's Blooie's story telling perch. She's good...just don't have liquid in your mouth while reading. Or in your bladder....

lindz, you are a bad influence. Just hatched out 7, have 16 in the brooder and will probably set another dozen tonight when I get the incubator cleaned up and ready. I am supposedly doing these for a friend, but if she doesn't want them they will go out with the rest of the kids.
Bee- Congrats on the grandbaby and the new chickies.
I am putting this computer down now and go out to work on the grow- out pen in the coop. It needs some TLC before I move the larger chicks outside.

I beg to differ!!!! This is my first EVER hatch! Well, except for the small clutch under a broody last fall, but that was kinda a fluke. I was on vacation, and my husband didn't realize she was broody... so when I got back I just left some eggs under her! So.... maybe its you incubating guys that are the bad influence!

Welcome, SonRise. These are a wonderful group of ladies from all over who care and are totally entertaining. The porch is so welcoming, I find myself coming even when I "should" be doing other things. This is way more fun!

Bee, you give me hope spring will come up here as well. It's sunny this morning and has gone up to 8F so far. The chickens are outside anyway. No sign of any returning birds yet. Usually the robins and crows are a sign spring is imminent. My DH and I have a contest every year who can see the first robin. Last year it was me

. It's a bit early yet, but I find myself listening every time I head out of the house in the morning on my way to work - just in case. I guess that's one definition of hope!

He's flue-ing from both ends ... got either a stomach bug or the stomach flu. He doesn't cope with being "down" very well and he was down all day yesterday. He ate a banana this morning. Then went out shopping. It's progress, but my goodness he has no patience for self-care!
