huh?       I must be doin' it ALL wrong then.  I toss them egg shells right in the run......nothing different or "improved" with them.  I don't even rinse them out.  
Of course, I have had any of the issues with my flock as so many others I read about.   I feed 'em,water 'em, and let them be chickens.
They play in the dirt, find bugs, eat frogs, ......and I ignore 'em.    

I bake the eggshells and crush them first because it makes me feel useful to do that. BK likes to tease me for that. If we have a broken egg in the nest ... It happens often enough ... It goes to the free-range hens behind the coop. They hang out at gathering time all hopeful and stuff ...

I think if you're that afraid of the germie thingies in the eggs so you don't want the chickens eating them, you're in big trouble.

So says -Lj who won't pee outside even though her family has been farming the same bit of rather private property for over 100 years ...

I imagine your set up will be fine, you did your homework. can't wait for pictures! By the way, the Scotties will love the woods.

Lindz, I don't know how many times I have been delayed and just missed being involved in a serious situation. God was definitely looking over you. Your job here is not done. Prayers for the families involved.

Lindz I am so glad you missed that wreck and so sad for the family involved. Will be praying for them and also thanking God you are safe.
I feel bad you had to witness that scene.
It is a reminder though , that the end can come ANY second. People are so interested in the end of the world, when it is coming ,but they fail to realize that the end for them might be that very day.

Here... for me its Medi-Cal... So I go to Covered California website and bounce back and forth and finally get redirected to the Government site for helthcare for California... Scratching my head here.... Find out that YEs I do qualify for MediCal... But the forms arent there you have to go to another website which didnt look like it before but was back in the Covered California Website.... OH you wanted FORMS.... (my little internal dialogue here) Try clicking this..... Viola do I want the attatchments.... URM... Yep Id better incase i need them and my computer crashes. So I saved off as a PDF Just incase my computer isn't lying this time when it crashes. Like THAT's going to save me anything.... But I digress.

OK So deadline is coming up I Have to get this crap filled out and submitted before MOnday... (me needs to rethink this whole Just in time rule of thumb for filling out forms that would keep you out of JAIL...Um er from getting a fine) So I fire up the printer.... My hopes and dreams crashed as the page count clicked on... and on.... and on... Finally .... Page 34

double thud. I just got finished with reading the attachments and the referal to document Ds and page what nots to find out if I qualify.... URM yes I do.... Back to What kind of person Am I... You know White Black Asian Mexican.... and a few hundred inbetween... Native Alaskans have their own set of forms to fill out and I have em.... Waiving papers in the air.

Finally I get to the part where I choose Covered California providers and Medi-Cal providers.... W T F?? Where in the heck do I find that crap.... Back to the two step between Covered California, Government pages, and found the medical section.... some where.. I am afraid to close it now. Shew, I really need some peace for my heart!  I took the van to get it inspected as soon as Hubby got home.  I had already set out hot dogs for supper, and it wasn't going to take me long to get that done.  Well, on my way back home, I decided to stop at a little gas station and grill to pick up some chili since I had forgotten to get any at the store.  After I left there, and turned off the main highway onto the road before ours, I got to the bottom of the hill, and there was a really bad wreck..... There were a couple of first responders/ volunteer firefighters on the scene and they were just getting into their turnout gear...... The vehicle was either a truck or large SUV, and had crossed center line, hit a tree that caused it to flip, and was about 7 car lengths from where it went off the road.... IT WAS REALLY BAD!!!

The vehicle was flipped over, and there was a man hanging upside down on the outside of the car. 

I was stopped beside one of the first responders who was getting his gear on, and I asked him what I needed to do to get out of the way.... He told me to either go around it, or turn around, but I needed to move so they could get the fire trucks and ambulances in there.   

I have a friend that works at the hospital, and gets all the 911 call information.  She said that there was 1 DOA, and they air lifted one to the major hospital an hour away, and that there were kids in the vehicle.  She said that the call came in at 5:52.... my receipt for the chili says 5:55.  If I hadn't stopped, I probably would have been involved in the wreck, and they would have hit me head on.
God was definitely watching out for me.  I just pray that those hurt are ok, and that the family is comforted with the loss. 

Dang Lindz, you are getting it from every side. Sounds like to me you have peed somebody off. You must be doing something right. Don't worry sis, praying a hedge of protection around you and yours!

I like the outhouse idea!!.... It is a PITA to have to go all the way back inside the house, through the house, take my coat off...go pee. Repeat steps in reverse to go back outside.

I didn't watch the videos. Sounded painful for me to watch...

not even for entertainment purposes. Seems kind of like a guy trait at times.....over do things...just a teency bit..

I prefer things simple. The more simple the better.

And I DO go out in my jammies and coat on a weekend morning and let the chooks out.

Its pretty simple to do an outdoor potty couple of visual screens and a camp potty or a bench seat with a hole cut in it and a toilet seat screwed to it. Then a 5 gallon bucket the same kind some people use for FF. Then If you want you can keep a clean bucket filled with saw dust... Do your business then scoop some sawdust on top.... I hear it can be mulched and used in the garden if you are so inclined. But if not you can just line the bucket with a black trash bag and Toss it in the regular trash....
