Cookies on a campfire!  Well, I nevah!  I have a baking stone...might have to try that!  :drool

Omg you should! Like I said we were the hit of the campground! We had way to many so walked around and gave a ton away. People were running back to there campsite and we could here everyone "they made cookies on the campfire!" "How did try do that?" "These are so good!" Lol! And you can make any kind you want. Yum!

Well, y'all have already seen my new front porch - so here is a current picture of my new back porch. Guess I gotta be different.

Blooie, love your front porch, it is so inviting.

You do NOT want to see either of my porches. Why do you think I come to hang on this beautiful porch with all you lovelies?

Yes...many porches are extra living and storage space and that's okay too. We just did a MAJOR clean out and organization of our "inside" back porch at our back entryway. It is our catch-all all year long and then, once a year, we clean it up and out, carting many things to the storage shed and to the trash.

Even made a place for our guns this year, though not in a conventional way....more like a "woman" way of storing them. Will soon be putting up a shell just for the ammo.

WOW, trying to keep up with the discussions on the porch is a full time job. The topics covered here ~ everything from chicken poop to homosexuality, to God, to recipes, kids, and world politics and on and on. If this isn't a cross section of America what is? And look, we can all agree - disagree, laugh- cry, ask for prayers and be prayed for. Or not.
I am still surprised how many times I read something posted here and say, Hey! I thought I was the only one who felt that way.
I am thankful I found this site. I am thankful for you all for sharing, and I am thankful to you all for respecting each other.

I have a request for all the creative, funny porch sitters. I am finishing my coop finally. Ok well, my husband is almost finished with the coop mostly, but I did help.

Any way I live at the end of Chicken Alley Road. YAH, can you believe it??? I am thinking I HAVE to give my coop a name of some sort that reflects my area. I'm Looking forward all your interesting suggestions.

Weirdness in Seymour

Shawano Leader:
Among the bizarre and weird sightings explored by paranormal researcher and author Chad Lewis, phantom chickens and disembodied voices at Chicken Alley in Seymour have been some of his most peculiar.
A simple country road consisting of four corners and not much else, Chicken Alley has been the source of what Lewis described as “a hotbed of activity.”
“When driving down the road, many people believe they have run over a phantom chicken,” he said. “They’re so convinced that they’ve run over a real chicken that they’ve gotten out to look at the damage to their vehicle or road kill only to discover nothing is there.”
Inevitably, the lack of physical evidence leads drivers to believe they have encountered the phantom chicken.
“I had a gentleman contact me who said he was driving along when all of the sudden a half dozen chickens darted out in front of him. He slammed on his brakes to avoid them, but then they disappeared right before his eyes,” Lewis said. “He was convinced he had seen the phantom chickens of Chicken Alley.”
Lewis has investigated but has not seen any phantom chickens, he said.
Chicken Alley is also reported to be the home of a disembodied voice.
“It’s said that if you walk out into the middle of the Chicken Alley and French Road intersection and stand there, you will hear the angry voice of a ghost man yelling at you to get out of the road,” Lewis said. “Legend states that if you do not heed his advice – much like hearing the Irish Banshee – you’ll be cursed with bad luck until the day you die.”
Knocking on a wood table, Lewis said he has yet to hear the mysterious voice after visiting the spot dozens of times.
Lewis’s presentation on Tuesday at the Shawano City-County Library also included stories about Wisconsin’s werewolves, phantom animals, witches, Bigfoot, sea serpents, and vampires.
About 100 people attended the free presentation.
“When you go to these places, I think they’re just creepy and a lot of fun. Letting yourself go and having fun with it is what it’s all about,” he said.
Lewis is a researcher and author for Unexplained Research L.L.C. He holds a Master of Science degree in psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Stout and has conducted paranormal research for more than 17 years.
His presentation was sponsored by Friends of Shawano County Libraries Inc.

You could call it The Phantom Chicken and under that put a sign that says vacancy or no vacancy. I'm not great at the whole naming thing! That's a crazy story there!

We are about 4 miles from "CHICKEN SHACK RD", in Oconto County.

Love the story about the Phantom chickens crossing the road. Maybe call your coop "The Other Side". As in, why did the Phantom chicken cross the road, to get to THE OTHER SIDE.
OK, maybe a little too obscure...
