The Front Porch Swing

Well, Hubby just called to say goodnight. I asked where he was all night, says he was home and never heard the phone. He went out to supper at a tavern with a co-worker/friend. He says "I might have had a bit too much to drink. I fell asleep on the couch twice."
I miss the old phones that plugged into the wall - when someone called, you heard the ring.

That's good! See? No need to sit in that chair and rock and worry.

I love land line phones as well and I wouldn't have anything else. I really do not like a cell phone and I've never owned one, though I've had to use them for work a good bit. I don't like being able to be interrupted by the phone every little place I go.

For the life of me I cannot understand why people want to be sewn at the hip to a phone 24/7...it's like a security blanket of some kind...but they never really seem secure, only nervous.

welcome to all. sit back on the chair and relax. id like a cold lemon aid please.
i never heated my coops to this winter. i just heated enough to keep the ferment going and the water from freezing. unfortunately i lost all my birds to illness. i had rhode island reds that would make your head spin. just gorgeous birds. well their gone. im in the middle of rebuilding. so i got me some nice quality barnevelders. them barnies are sure good looking birds. i have 17 in the house. i can't wait for the weather to break. them guys will go out in the yard. i watch them a bit. then i cull my non- breeders. get them situated. then i do another breed. the boy here wants polish for his 4-h so i got him 12 WC polish. will see what he does.with them
im think of doing a bantam for a change what you all think of them cornish.?

Any particular reason that you chose to restart with Barnevelders? I am thinking about getting another breed... We are generally in the same temp zone.

I do need to learn to be irie.  I try hard not to worry, it is a lot easier when I am not 15 hours away.
For some reason, I have this irrational fear that something bad will happen and I am not there to be able to do anything about it.  See, hardcore worrier.

Well, I still love rockers and swings, even though I am not a worrier. I love the steady movement of rockers. I keep a nice glider on my screened in porch. Visitors welcome!
When I was young, my dad told me that there were two kinds of people: those that were stressed, and those that caused stress! LOL.. Not necessarily true, I suppose..

I am so glad you heard from your husband. I have been through the same thing. We lived in Indiana and Ken got a job in Texas. He left at the end of March and I didn't reconnect with him until September! I would panic/worry when I couldn't get a hold of him. He wasn't use to carrying a cell phone and would always leave it in the car. I won't even tell you the thoughts I came up with! I wish you luck in selling your house!

Bee, I am thinking you need more rocking chairs! :)

Lisa :)

You don't have to tell me what you were thinking, I am sure I am having many of the same thoughts. The last time it happened, he was driving to a seminar in a snowstorm on rural highways in WI in areas without cell service. I couldn't get in contact with him until the next morning at 8 am.

The biggest problem with mine is that he is connected at the hip to his phone. He has two - one for work and one for personal, and he is always on them. If it rings, he answers, no matter what. We were always being interrupted - a movie at home, supper, dining in a restaurant, and on vacation. It was maddening. Now when he doesn't answer for over 4 hours I panic. Dumb, I know!

As for the rocking chairs, I have always loved them. I have the one my mom used to rock us kids to sleep. She died of cancer when I was 10. It contains good memories for me. I love to sit in the rocker by the wood stove, reading my sci-fi books.

Thanks for the support last night, guys! I wish I had the power of faith you guys do.

@WyoDreamer... I am the same way - a little bit of a control freak so if things get "out of order" I start to worry. One time when things were a little crazy and the boyfriend didn't answer his phone I went to his house to check on him to see if something had happened. He was sound asleep. lol I was like okay, never mind, just checking, go back to sleep. LOL But not long ago when the weather was bad and he couldn't get ahold of me he came pulling up in the driveway. lol Now that made me feel pretty good for HIM to do that... but he wasn't real happy with me. If you care you will do some worrying from time to time.

This warm weather and being FEBRUARY 1ST has me really thinking about warm weather. :) As usual I start thinking about what all I want to do this year (but never get half of it done). What about you guys? Anybody have any big plans?
