The Front Porch Swing

I made a batch of Oatmeal Chocolate Cookie batter. Baked half of the cookies and threw the other half into the freezer. No way I can eat all 4 dozen by myself before they go bad. Also, I am supposed to be on a diet - Weight watchers. I have worked the recipe up and calculated the points so I can incorporate the cookies into my eating plan.

DH is on his way - he is in Nebraska as I type.. He will get a hotel room at some point, probably within the hour, and then make the last of the drive in the morning. Haven't seen him in three weeks, so I really looking forward to him getting here. He took a week off of work, so he will be here for a little while. He has found a few places for sale in Wisconsin, he will contact our realtor to set up viewing when he gets back there. Unfortunately, they are all around 3 to 4 acres. When we first decided to do this move we were talking about getting a place with 15 to 20 acres but it looks like the bank account and the market back there is not going to cooperate. But we can do quite a bit on 4 acres.

I will be quite busy this summer planning and setting up for all the stuff I want to do. Gardening will be top of the list for 2015.

That pup is so darn cute!
I can't wait to have this move over with so we can get a pup. We like to have two dogs, DH and I alternate who gets a dog. Since we put down our Irish last summer, my English Setter has been so lonely.
Looking forward to hear more of everybodies projects! Keep us updated!
I like the cat out with the hens also. Do the chickens chase the cat at all?

Yes, you can do quite a bit on 4 acres, depending on the soils and climate. Can't wait to see what you come up with on land and how you can make it work for you.

I make a "no bake" chocolate peanutbutter oatmeal cookie when I have to have a good chocolate fix. Scraping the pan is my favorite part! LOL Good luck on finding that perfect place AND I hope your hubby is home safe and sound SOON. :)

He is trying to round them up constantly!  He is very driven and I have had to call him off a few times... He is constantly tormenting the cat however, and I have to figure out how to break him from that!  He also freaks out on the leash, and sounds like you are killing him!  Shew, I forgot how much work a puppy is!  He is very smart, but he is also VERY stubborn!  He has absolutely NO recall if I am standing up, but will come to me if I am sitting down. UNLESS we are outside... It is totally crazy and frustrating!  I've never dealt with a dog like this!  Its like he wants attention, but is afraid of it at the same time...

I like using a long (at least 20 feet) lead for training some. That way they can have their freedom but you can still reach them for correcting. It can work wonders for training them to come when called. You can get a cheap, thin length of nylon rope and a swivel snap at a hardware store to make it, maybe $5. I bet somebody has made a youtube video on this...

Speaking of dogs... I believe I am going to play around with training mine to pull a cart or something. He needs a job besides following me around. We have a store not far from here that supplies all kinds of canine equipment for police and service type dogs. It is like a big warehouse with really cool dog stuff in it. I bet I can find a decent harness there. Anybody have any experience with harness animals?

You could even make him carry a back pack! I have an online site that sells work harnesses and recreational harnesses if you can't find what you want at your dog store. I think they even have links to instructional vids on how to use them but you can find many of those on YouTube. If I had a good place to do it around here, I'd do some bikejoring with ol' Jake...that looks like some real fun!

Checking in from Nova Scotia, Canada :frow

Currently a balmy 25 F here with about 15" of the white fluffy stuff on the ground. Myself and the chickens are eagerly anticipating the arrival of Spring which, in all of our opinions, cannot get here soon enough !

Howdy ya'll :)

I make those same no bake cookies! Very simple, very satisfying. My family loves them. Cocoa, oatmeal and peanut butter, etc. :P
