The Front Porch Swing

I don't know. But do you have a cellar? ;)

Unless it's high ground you should be seeking ... :barnie

Maybe a helicopter out of here! hahahahaha

...well no, couldn't fly through all those geese! LOL If they meet up with a plane it's gonna be bad.

Y'all ain't gonna to believe this! All those geese that flew over a couple days ago going NorthEast, well they just now flew back over headed back where they came from! I bet that string of geese was AT LEAST 1/2 mile long! I was sitting in the house and heard them. I figured it was one little "V" headed somewhere. Nope, HUNDREDS!!! I took some pics with my cell phone but you can't tell much about it...

Can you guys see the geese in these pics? I can't see them very well at all on this cell phone. The 3rd pic shows a bunch of them but I can barely see them. There were so many "V's" connected that the sky looked like patchwork.

When I click on them so they show up bigger I can see the geese. And wow! Don't think I have ever seen that many geese flying through the sky, very cool!!

It's FREAKY!!! The line went for at least 1/2 mile and probably longer! I have never seen anything like it around here, never ever. It is strange that they came right back and headed in the same direction they came from a couple days ago AND it is strange that both times they flew right over the top of MY house. Folks these are some strange times we are living in! We better get our houses in order if you know what I mean.

Economies of scale ... we are in need of more egg collecting baskets for various reasons ... I freak at the price of the official egg collecting baskets, but also would rather not have to juggle eggs from a bucket to a washing basket/colander during the egg washing phase of things, so I really do want some plastic/plastic coated wire baskets with handles. I found some online at the Dollar Tree ... by the case. For the price of about 1.25 "real" egg collecting baskets, I can buy 36 of the Dollar Tree baskets. So that's what I did.

I'm sure I can put the extra 30 baskets to good use ...

I read they're great for growing orchids.

Could you post a pic of one?

I like this thread. It makes me feel comfortable.

A front porch is supposed to be comfortable! Wherever I live I try to make the front porch cute and very invitingly comfortable. That last place I lived an Asian couple pulled up in the driveway looking for directions to a tourist landmark and after I told them how to get there, they asked if they could have their lunch on my front porch because it was so pretty there. I was tickled!

Just paint and some old, refurbished patio furniture but it must have appealed to them.

Pic of Spike on a refurbished old rocking chair I had picked up with a matching settee alongside the road. I love remaking old and interesting pieces of furniture out of scrap materials...this one was scraps, left over pieces of egg crate foam for a mattress and some guts out of a baby mattress. I'm not very good at sewing or upholstery, but I still do it anyway!

This was the matching settee...with my Ol' Bat of a mother and my youngest chick perched on her lap. And a few eggs he must have smooshed out of her! This was taken about 5 yrs back and we have long since moved from that house, but it still has our hearts captured inside the walls there.

The swing was black when we came there but I had to paint it red...I love a red swing! The trim was black when we came there but I painted it sage green, just to give it a pop.

As you can probably tell, porches mean a lot to me...they are the smile of the house and if your house is a friendly and warm one, the smile should be too!
