The Front Porch Swing

Quote: I have PEX pipe for my booster pump connection to the fire tank just for that reason. Love love love it. those connectors can also be used on PVC if you need. Just a bit of info on that PEX pipe..... I found out after I installed it that is not rated for outdoor use. All the literature says so. Even the hardwarestore guys say so. when I read that I went.... EEEK.

But then I realized that PEX is a new product in the US. within the last ten years.... or so. It had to jump through hoops to get it allowed for building construction and passing inspection. Though its been used in Europe much much longer.

The PEX pipe is made of HDPE.... High Desnisy Polyethelene.... Which is a UV stabilized food grade plastic product. the very same stuff used for those white 55 gallon Drums.

PEX pipe has two kinds of connectors. One type gets clamped on ... Use the more expensive clamp for this ... trust me. The other type of fittings is push on and "quick release." Very easy and convenient. But more expensive.

Deb,
Was Rosie your horse?
Oh .... No Rosie was my dog.... Smartest dog in the world.... sigh... My Rosie Posie. She was a pound puppy.... I rescued her from the last remaining kill shelter in San Diego. she was about two in 96 when we got her.... had turned her back on the world sitting in her kennel looking out the back side. I had to call her a couple of times before she turned around to see that I actually was talking to her....

When we got her out to socialize all she wanted to do was sit on my foot and look up. I got her to be a companion to my Greyhound and to be my sons dog. she wormed her way into our hearts in short time. She was seventeen last year.

My horse is Katee she is 20 and still reigning queen of the desert.... LOL.

I LOVE my chicken sink. Very useful, and simple enough to set up. And I got the sink for a song. You can often find them for free ...

The feed room is okay, but there is too much "man" in it. As in it was turned into a "man cave," which was a total jumble of crap ideas and crap decorations. Decorations. You read that right. Can we hang a rake here? No ... that's where my license plate display is going. Let's stick the rake in the crotch of some random tree. Argh!!!!!!!

I had a SUPER hard time influencing the setup of that room, so it is a bit awkward for me to use. I've been taking it apart bit by bit and redoing it. I can finally fit a few bags of feed in there.

Oh yes, I can identify with this! LOL

...I have more "bosses" than I can shake a stick at!

For some reason I thought dog, but when I saw her years in your signature, i thought for sure it must be a horse or another type of animal. Wow, she sounds like an amazing dog, sounds like you both needed each other and made each others life better by being in it. That is special

I used the push on ones thank goodness.... Yep expensive and I had a plumber do the work..... but Knowing my luck with jobs done around the place I saw the wisdome in not having to have tools to put them together and take apart.

Quote: LOL Yep..... Dad had to learn that one the hard way. he was welding up a project in the garage one summer. working on the ground squatting and wearing his gawd aweful Plaid shorts and flip flops.... He was a funny guy.... drinking a beer welding away Eating Jalepenos stuffed with tuna..... He would call mom over and give her a big wet kiss.... She then would hit him and curse a blue streak and run into the house to get a glass of milk. Hed go back to welding.....

Unfortunately the shorts were a bit loose.... He didnt care if the hot sparks hit his legs. what he didnt realize was the Arc light from the welder was sunburning him ..... ALL the way up. Fair haired boy walked like a seasoned cowboy for about a week.. He bought his first jeans in years after that.

sounds like you have a great plan. One thing I find that helps organizing is drawing your area up on grid paper..... to scale. Easy enough to do Use one square to represent a foot or half foot depending on how much detail you need. Then do paper dolls of the stuff you want to move around or tweak. Include important details like how far a door opens and how wide. that would go for fencing or small moveable coops too.

On your main drawing you put in all the things you cant move or dont want to move. Hose bibs, electrical, fence posts, Trees house.... what ever... Then you can use your paper dolls to estimate space and organization. That will give you an idea of the best use of building materials.

Good idea on the paper doll trick!

I use a lot of graph paper to make sketches at different scales. Small drawings for overall or rough ideas, then larger for details.
I've done some drafting when I was younger, both by hand and CAD.

I'm really sorry Deb, I didn't know exactly who I was talking so bad about when trying to get some of those thing back in the box and never could. hahahaha

Anybody that is really gifted by God in an area doesn't need a bunch of "schooling" to do what they do. It just comes natural and gets fine tuned. You're a gem!

You gotta be smarter than the box. I am a computer field service technician, and have to unpack and install a lot of equipment. Sometimes it's hard to figure out how to get it OUT of the box. :)
