The Front Porch Swing

John 15:13
Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.

Love this!

spring.... Sigh... We got three inches of rain on that last storm. The same amount we got for the whole of last year. Normally by now our hills are green with native Wild Oats... Some of it even showing that mature color... but The hills are still that dark brown that indicates flash point..... if they werent wet right now.

They will start greeing up in a couple more days.... Yay.

up at my house last year there wasnt enough rain to make the flowers bloom that the desert is so famous for.... Oh when they bloom the air is sooo full of perfume... Desert Mountain Lilac, Poppies,Gold dust... Belly flowers My neighbor calls them belly flowers because you have to lay on your belly in order to see them. Some are purple some are like teeny little yellow daisys.

Smaller than baby sweater buttons..... Yet there will be acres and acres of Blue White Yellow and a sweet sweet smell. The yellow only last a week maybe two..... The blue ones dry in place and retain the blue... I hope they come back this year.

A couple weeks ago a woman I use to go to church with asked me if I was in church anywhere and when I told her no she kind of "tisked" me with her attitude. I thought to myself how many Godly friends I have right here that I can call on any time to stand with me in prayer... I almost felt sorry for HER! LOL I do hope to find a good church and be able to attend regular again someday. A good church is a wonderful thing. *But ACTUALLY we have a church right here!*

I need to catch up on this thread!!  But first I need help. Got chicken livers at the store yesterday because my husband loves liver. But I have never cooked liver in my life, what's the best way to cook it??

I like to cook garlic or shallots or maybe onion in some butter, with lots of tarragon. Add white wine to the pan, cook that a minute of two to burn off the strong flavor, then pour in a lot of cream. Salt & pepper to taste. When that's hot but not really boiling, add in the raw chicken livers and let them cook for a minute or two until they reach the desired doneness. Serve all that over pasta.

Alternatively, fry the livers separately with salt & pepper until just barely done, then put them on the pasta & cream sauce.

It probably wouldn't hurt to start the whole process by cooking up some bacon, but why be greedy?

My oldest went to live with her dad in W TX for a couple of years, ended up in El Paso for a year and loved the desert - the color, being able to see for miles - it was restful to her.
