The Front Porch Swing

This is our yard - taken in Jan. We have a bit more snow now. So we went from this

to this (in San Diego) - so many beautiful orchids at Balboa park.

Deb, I'm thinking this must be in the general area of where you were talking about - between San Diego and Yuma.

We drove to the edge of Yuma to watch the sunset. The water is a canal they use to water the fields here. So warm, could hear birds. So beautiful!
Oh the Botanical gardens Sooo aweseome.... Did you know the Zoo backs on to them and that the Zoo has more rare and endangered plant species than they do animals? The fellow that built my house was an avid Orchid grower. Hence the green house..

Thats a stunning Sunset photo....
Yep I am located in the same Mountain range.... though I only have a few rocks of my own I am surrounded by them.

It is such a fascinating and alien environment where you live.

When I travel I like to visit gardens. I love flowers and flower shows. So much! So very much!

They're a little hard to see but here are the 2 & 3 day olds chowing down on their fermented feed. The one on the right had just grabbed a beak full and left the immediate area to keep it all to himself. The picture is a little bit deceiving in that both of these chicks are black.

Yum yum!

To give you an idea how small they are, that jar lid is exactly 2-1/2 inches across. Looks to be about the same as the chicks are from the front of their chest to their butt fuzz.

awe they sooo cute. lol and little....wow

Oh my goodness everyone has been chatty while I was gone. I've been trying to get my place of employment fired back up for ice cream season.
GUESS WHAT????  I have 6 chicks!!!  3 Americaunas and 3 Speckled Sussexs.  The feed store is getting Australorps in on the 19th and I put my money down for 3.  Guess who is smiling????  DH has the camera, will post pictures later tonight.

Lisa :)

Yea new chickies

Woo Hoo good news....

Today was kind of pay day for me ....  I went to Cathryns to pay my bill and bought a shirt for a little less than the Cathryns card bill...   I am sooo bad..  Then I went up to the feed store and prepaid for ten bales of hay and delivery....  Its so nice to have the truck running.

Walking around with the crutches is sooo much eaiser than the walker....  It gets my center of gravity over my feet.  I wont replace the walker for a while....

Went to food for less to buy groceries for Moms Birthday dinner tomorrow.  She wants fried oysters...  So dinner is going to be an adventure because Grandma doesnt do fish of any kind except blackened Catfish...  And the occasional Fish stick or Breaded deep fried shrimp.   So I am going to blacken some Tilapia for her.  I have some Ocra too that I am going to cook up.

I tried to call mom around two to ask her a question and the answering machine picked up too quickly ....  So After the grocery store I tried agein.  No answer... so because I was worried about her I called Grandma....  first thing she said was "Where ... Have you been..."  I thought Uh oh my stommach dropped.   Then grandma said  "We have to go get my car"  It took a moment for that to sink in she said the Cops caught the guy in the next town over....  In Lakeside.  And we needed to get the car out of impound.

Who ever stole the car was hit with a stupid stick a couple of times....  He took Grandmas plates off and exchanged them for another set that were from .... wait for it..... another stolen car....

So Mom was there at Grandmas house waiting for me to drive them both to the impound yard.  Grandma had to go to sign for the car and bring all the paperwork.  By the time we were through the paperwork and paying the impound fees we realized we couldnt drive it without License plates....  So we scurried off to get new ones....  one of those satellite shops that sells tags registrations transfers... etc.  We were in and out of there in about fifteen minutes.  new plates and registration and tags cost a whoppin 45 bucks.   Whew....

When I got the keys for the car and looked INside I was stunned.  It was as if someone had taken a beautiful heart out of it and transferred a diseased on...  Oh the seats and all the mechanics were fine... but they had ripped off the dash cover without even trying to unfasten it with the velcro....  The floor mats were gone ... everywhere there were grease blobs...  All the compartments were emptied and filled with their own personal ___ um er crap....  Garage door opener gone Handicapped mirror tag gone walker gone briefcase gone.....  The trunk had been cleared out and filled with a Mans jacket firewood and a good strong hand truck.  And a babbie with a muffen in it. The back seat has a pile of greasy tools and electronics....  INcluding one of those tools to break out windows incase you drive it off into a lake....  (car theft tools)   Oh and they smoked in it there were ashes everywhere.... and stink.    Just two weeks and it smelled like someone elses car....  Oh and they had stuck one of those holders for a radar detector on the window....

Soo glad to have it back....  But it needs Serious detailing inside....

deb  "pasting pre typed post before the computer freezes..... AGAIN:

Yes the found the car. Now if the police will ask them about the missing items.
Happy Birthday to your mom.

Ya oughta make your...ahem...sister give you another break and take that nephew of yours fishin'.  :D   Nothing like draggin' a line to give you time to think, talk to God, and work out things in your heart.  I like it better than hunting because you can do things with your hands...or not, if you want to just let things float.  Soak up some sunshine(and Vit. D), listen to the stream....oh, it's all so peaceful!

We've got a fishing trip planned with the boys up in the mountains in May.  Will be grillin', fishin', and relaxin' for four days.  :weee     We don't often get times like that when everyone is together anymore, so this is a blessing straight from the Lord!

I can't wait to go trout fishing.

The painted egg is absolutely gorgeous!

Lisa, I am so happy you got chicks!

Deb, so glad they found your grandma's car, sorry about the condition.

Tomorrow is my birthday, I am so excited!  I love birthdays. I am turning 45 this year. :)  And it is supposed to be a high of 60 degrees tomorrow!

Michelle

Happy Birthday to you!!!

We are both normally neatniks and she is a borderline clean freak, now reformed from full on OCD clean freakness(she's getting better...or worse, if you view it from her eyes)...she has bleach in her veins, I tell ya.  :D   We love sparse, frugal living with a minimum of clutter but each year we still have to de-clutter our lives to be able to maintain our clean lines and surfaces in the home, particularly in our personal areas and the back porch(our utility space for tools, storage, etc.).

Other people come to our house and can't believe the lack of clutter and how minimalized it is, but we've always loved that look...comfortable, but without being spartan.

To be de-cluttered... ahhh a dream. :(

I'm weird no doubt... I love watching old shows like Andy Griffith, Leave it to Beaver, Lassie, etc so I can check out their houses. I love how simple they lived and no junk in sight. Simple, clean and so nice. Someday...
