That is such EXCELLENT NEWS! So happy for you! And that is a beeeeuuutiful porch! Woweee! The Lord is certainly good. All those other possibilities just weren't good enough for the desire of your heart. So they didn't want to sell you 10 acres, they sold all of it for what you offered? That is so wonderful!

I really do feel that this is Gods will for me and I am truly blessed. When DH decided to move back to WI, I was not really thrilled, especially when he said the job he wanted was in Green Bay. For some reason, I just had an aversion to Green Bay. But I pulled up my big-girl panties and supported him and was "happy" to make this move. I was determined to "make the best of it". This is close to my parents and my Dad and Mom are overjoyed at me moving close. It will be nice to be close to them.
And now, wow! Even DH has said that this place was meant for us and the other places fell through so we were ready when this place came up for sale. God works in mysterious ways! I never ever dreamed I would ever have a porch like that. I can't wait to see the whole place for myself!

The place was listed as 12 acres, with more land available at $4500 per acre. We offered close to their asking price for the homestead and their asking price for an additional 13 acres - hence 25 acres total. There is still another 15 acres left, hopefully it will still be available when we sell our current home in WY. If we get our price for our house, we may be able to buy the remainder for cash.

As the saying goes, I wasn't born in Wyoming but I got here as fast as I could! Hubby was born in Sheridan, I was born in Iowa but raised in eastern South Dakota. We spent 26 years in the Navy, retired in South Dakota but he missed his mountains. So I figured after 26 years of following him from one end of the country to the other, what was one more move? So here we are, in Northern Wyoming, and here we'll stay. I hope you find all of your dreams at the end of the Wisconsin rainbow the way I found all of mine at the Wyoming end.
Sheridan, Big Horns, Park County, the Black Hills. Northern Wyoming is beautiful.
When I told my dad we were moving to Wyoming, he was excited. When I told him we were moving near Cheyenne, he said "that's not even the pretty part of the state."

I know! But she manages very well! She has several plastic dog crates. When she claps her hands the ducks split up into groups and go to their crates. She carries them downstairs and puts them out for romping and swimming and then does the same thing in reverse when it's time for them to go inside. Her rock dove, Nappy, was just a fledgling when he flew into her window and was injured. She ran out and brought him in, and he's lived in the house ever since too. That was two years ago. He and Chester sit on the arm of her SO's easy chair and share popcorn with him! She started out with three ducklings, but one was killed by a raccoon or something and she got so upset that Chester and Emma came inside and have been there since. I have a wild, wacky and wonderful family. When I told her I'd ordered chicks she just laughed at me - "Ma, looks like you're next." Um, no! Mine will live outside in a coop, thank you very much! LOL
.
LOL... beautiful couch.... Hey they make duck diapers.... and pigeon diapers too.

Wyodreamer I thought of you when I saw the house. Look down toward the bottom and you will see 25 chicks for $1.90!!

I love these old catalogues!!

Or 500 for under $46. Those were the days. Wonder what the salary was? My dad worked driving a taxi in early '50's for $35 week. My first job was in 1966 working in a bank for $280 mo. That's right. A month.

And I qualified for a mortgage of $79 mo. Little 3br/1 bath next to an air force base. But I was flying high. Home owner. ha

Edited for correction. I started at $210 mo. Received an extra $70 mo when they increased the per hour pay scale. The bank had no option. Had to give it to me.

Our offer has been accepted - and baring any unforeseen problems - we are buying a house with a bunch of farm-buildings on 25 acres.
I am offering extra seating on my-soon-to-be front porch. :)

I asked DH about them, he didn't even notice them when he looked at the house. He didn't notice a lot of stuff that I asked about in the pictures!
Like - what is the chicken on the wall? "what chicken?" the one under the towel, next to the sink. Click on the picture to see it larger.
Kind of a neat-o sink, hey?
