Praying WBF!  Be sure and let us know how it all turns out.

Prayed for you!  Work stress is something for which I have often prayed...it can destroy one's God given peace if we let it and sometimes we cannot help it...it affects us whether we want it to or not.  :hugs

Windy Bay Farm, you have my prayers also!

Thanks to each of you for your prayers, it means so so much to me ! I'll keep you posted on the outcome ! Thanks again :hugs

I am bad..... very very very bad.

We went to TSC this evening.

Hubby said I could get 6 chicks.... and only 6.... So, I picked out 3 Ameracaunas (I know EE"S) and 3 Red pullets (probably golden comets). Then he walked off.... and the lady was like "I have these pullets from last week that I really have to get rid of.... Would you like them for $1? " MAJOR TEMPTATION!!!! I told her I had to ask my husband, but I could probably take them if she would drop them down to 50¢.... So, he came walking back up, and was like,"Yea that is too good of a deal to pass up. $3 chicks for 50¢..... I thought there was only 6, until she said she thought she had 15 more in the back but actually there were 20...... SO>>>>>> we came home with a total of 32 chicks! HOLY COW what was I thinking!!!!!???????? Honestly, I figured I would raise them off of lights and then sell them.
Oh that is so funny. I put my name on a waiting list for French Black Copper Marans back when I had a job, I told hubby that I was obligated. 'Course I paid for them with my egg money. Got 4 of them.

And today, the co-op chicks come in. I ordered one replacement rooster, but of course, he has to have friends....
I'm glad you have overabundance now!

And they were PULLETS!!!! Nothing like that ever happens to me. Well, I don't know. I'm such a newbie I don't know if the good sells will come. I know that I have $225 tied up in about 50 chicks coming in 2 batches in the next 6 wks. And they're not even the good stuff. We'll see. Anticipation!!!!

I have been reading the Cackle Surprise thread and they are getting some really good deals. Mostly pullets. It's usually a couple of ducks, turkeys and 40=50 chicks. For $60 or so shipping included. And you can specify no ducks, bantams etc. Usually they'll help you. Something to think about. ha
This is DH's serious weakness, he likes ducks more than chickens. So AFTER the chicks have left the brooder, I'll start looking for ducks. More babies!!!!

There are several good books out there about herbal uses/companions. Check out Carrots Love Tomatoes for companions. I went to the big used book store - they do trade-ins too - and found some old herbal guides, the older the book, the more uses they list and they usually have more variety as well. I even have an old Joy of Cooking that lists recipes for comfrey, which is now "bad" for us - IMHO only if you don't know what you're doing.

Hi my name is Carolyn and I'm a CHICK-A-HOLIC! and you ladies are not helping at all. The other day someone was talking about getting turkey keets and that started me wanting some turkeys and now Lindz with your announcement of chicks all I can think about is going to TSC and checking for good deals on chicks. I have 30 some odd chicks at home now the last thing I need is more chicks. I came here for support and all I get is enablers. Lol All joking aside Lindz I'm glad for you .50 a piece is a really good deal for pullets.

I too am praying for each one of you. Each of our lives is like a huge puzzle and while we are only able to see a piece at a time, God sees the whole puzzle with each piece neatly fitted together. He has a plan for each one of our lives all we have to do is surrender to His guiding hand and rely on Him to put each piece where it belongs. May each of you feel His tender love today.

I have CARROTS LOVE TOMATOES. great book that is packed with good information.

Years ago I read a couple of books written by Ruth Stout. Her views on composting and mulching changed my gardening methods. Any type of soil can be amended/improved in this manner.

Well, I went from 32 down to 9! My aunt took the rest of them since they have been wanting to get some.

But, quick question.... She doesn't get paid until tomorrow, and needs to know what she can feed them until then when she can get a bag of chick starter.....

Scrambled eggs. Or boiled eggs that are crushed up really well, shells and all.

I scramble them in the microwave with a bit of milk so I don't have to add any oil. Stirr them up really well so they have an easier time eating the little chunks.

Baby turkeys are the BEST! Adult turkeys are a lot of fun, too.

Here is a video of our poults saying hello last year.
