...if you could give me 40 degrees and I could give you half a day of rain. lol Day before yesterday it was sunny and around 70 degrees- nice! Yesterday it was about 40 for the high and rained all day long with humidity real high making it damp and so chilly!

Speaking of dogs in the house all the time... A friend of mine's dog has cancer and it is eating the dirt out of flower pots and chewing on things like bricks. Does anybody know what this dog is after that it is trying to find?

It might be trying to get minerals or nutrition that it feels it needs. Giving it something supplemental in its diet might help. My dog used to, sometimes, chew on hard patches of dirt until it broke up. Some of our soil has loads of clay in it and she really tried to eat it.

We gave her some wheat germ oil and she stopped. I don't know what it was she was actually trying to eat, though. We just had the oil on hand from when our pony was alive and she liked it in her food.

Yeah, no doubt the dog is after some mineral or something. I just don't know what. I was thinking if I could figure it out and give it to the dog, it might help the type of cancer it has. I know animals that live outside know what kind of plants they need to eat when they are sick.

Well, it's morning here on Oleo Acres......and now for your local news:
There was a major jailbreak in the early morning hours. Allegedly the jailer forgot to lock up the cell where 24 inmates were being held prior to their sentencing to hard labor out in the prison yard. Mr. and Mrs. Blooie were asleep when the jailbreak occurred. "We were awakened by strange scratching noises about 2:30 am. My husband got up to check and stepped in something warm and slimy." Mrs. Blooie reported. "He flipped on the light in the hall and saw the inmates scurrying for cover." Bravely, armed with nothing more than bare feet and hands, the Blooies managed to round up most of the escapees. One nefarious character, a troublemaker known only as "Easter Egger", evaded the authorities and escaped immediate capture by hiding behind a large plastic bucket full of toys. The Blooies' English Setter, Molly, once again proved her worth as she slammed into a point and managed to distract the inmate long enough for Mr. Blooie to sneak up from behind and wrestle Easter Egger into submission. All inmates have been returned to their cell, accounted for after a headcount. "There's some minor damage," Mrs. Blooie said. "Mostly squishy piles and some snags in the hallway carpet from their scratching activities, but nothing we can't clean up. We will rebuild the jail so that this never happens again."

And for your local weather:
Wyoming is living up to it's billing as the "4 Season State" - those seasons being Almost Winter, Winter, Still Winter, and Getting Ready for Winter. A cold front bringing winds that could gust to 45 MPH (just barely breezy by Wyoming standards) will sweep through the Big Horn Basin beginning this afternoon, bringing with it 1 to 3 inches of new snow. But take heart, Wyoming. The National Weather Service has declared August 15th as Summer Day 2014, so get out there when it arrives and celebrate.

In sports:
In conjunction with the winds expected today, folks in the region will take part in the "Try to Stand Upright in this Crap" games. Last week's competition was stiff, but there were no winners so all the participants from the last event will try once again for the title, "LeadButt". We are anticipating a large turnout.

And which jailor forgot to lock up? Action may be called for. Docking pay and such..

I'm glad to report that all chicks are happy, healthy and scratching around this morning!
We had some freezing rain this morning, so school was delayed 2 hrs. Unfortunately, I didn't really get those extra hours of sleep because the school board called at 5:30 to say school was delayed, and then at about 7 the dogs started barking.... The neighbor's dogs were back over here, and I didn't get a chance to get the gun before my dogs had them ran off! The dane and the heeler at least.... the yorkie didn't get out of the bed. LOL.... I guess he's getting lazy in his old age! No harm done this time, thank goodness!

Ratchet (heeler) and Zauk (great dane)

Yayy! Our heroes! (could have used your help last night, fellas!) Give 'em each an extra cookie, well, except for the yorkie - give him a cup of coffee.
