I've been looking through a nursey catalog... talking about chicken math! I could easily pick out $500 worth of this stuff!!! Flowers, fruit trees, nut trees, vines and bushes and ...help meee!!! LOL

The must have list:
Granny Smith Apple Trees
Black Walnut Trees
Elderberry Bushes
Paw Paw Trees

Got some trees in the yard that need replacing. Why not replace them with trees that have FOOD on it...? And why didn't I plant all of this years ago?

Yep My list is different but I have one. Everything below has cold hearty versions.... cold for us is about two weeks worth of snow and couple of months where Occasionally the temps dip down low enough to freeze the top of the horse waterer.
Oranges
Lemons
Limes
Kumquats
Fig
Pomegranate
Dates
These trees usually need a hard frost but the ones below will live and bear fruit down by the coast.
Apple
Pear
Almond

These bear fruit or are edible and are native.
Prickly Pear Cactus also known as Nopal Catcus
Mesquite (for the seed pods whole seed pods can be ground for flour)
Spanish Bayonnette Yucca. Fruit can be eaten raw or cooked. So can the flowers.... the seeds can be pounded or ground for flour. The leaves can be pounded for their fiber and the fiber can be used for weaving or rope making. The root can be used for making soap.

Here ya go, TW...for your mousies....hey, did you ever figure out that feather problem with your flock?

It won't let me look because I don't have Facebook. Never figured out the problem but their feathers are growing back. Don't know...??? I have noticed that when a feather hits the ground one of them will eat it. Reckon they need more protein?
