The Front Porch Swing

They look so much alike! Good genes going on there!

I know! It's amazing how things are passed along.....
And mom is doing well, I hope.....
Very! Easy delivery even though induced..she had an epidural and didn't feel a thing! Eight hours but Mom is doing very well...she was just posting something to FB, so I assume it's business as usual.

Thank you all for the wonderful comments on the baby...she truly is a little morsel straight from heaven.

Aliza Grace arrived at around 2:30 pm today, 8 lb. 3 oz. and 21 in. long, a full head of golden brown hair (like Grandma!

) and has her daddy's full lips and sweet smile and also his nose, his butt, his beautiful skin color and tone, etc. Her mama is very, very pale with pale blond hair and pale blue eyes, so the baby doesn't resemble her much yet but no telling what will pop up later...she does have her mom's toes.

She slept and smiled all during the visit~when we would all laugh, she would smile!~ and appears to be just like her dad was when he was a baby...calm, quiet, sweet and laid back. She latched on real well to the breast and nursed for 45 minutes for her first tucker!!!

Yep...that's from our side of the family.....

Oh...and no chicks yet...I think they may be a day or two behind. No pips, no zips...just eggs. Thank God for that because I really needed to leave them today and so I just left and trust them to God, which is always a good idea.

Prayed a first blessing on this baby girl and dedicated her to God's service in her life and thanked God for her health, her life and her sweet, sweet beauty. Granny Bee is in LURVVVVVVVV!!!!!!!!

Oh man I missed it. I didn't get to read the post yesterday evening and I missed the GREAT announcement. I prayed all day for this baby and missed the first picture. I am so thrilled for you Bee. I just sat and cried tears of joy for you. She is so beautiful and I love her name. There is nothing that can compare to be a grandma, it is indescribable the love you can feel for this child.
Dear Heavenly Father please bless this new family. Fill their lives with joy and love. May Your blessings shower their lives and guild this little one's life that she may always seek Your will. Amen!

Thanks for the good wishes, Luvblues7. Unfortunately Heidi and Justin live 12 hours west and north of us. But we will be going to see them at Easter. Can hardly wait! She is due the end of Sept, so we'll have to plan another trip before then - I want to see her "very pregnant"

. I'm thinking we'll be doing a lot more travelling in that direction from now on....

Our children lived 5 hours away when our first grandchild was born. It was torture not getting to see him all the time. But fortunately we enjoy riding our motorcycle and it saved us so much money on gasoline because we burned up the highway going to Wichita Ks. But praise the Lord, they moved in January to Moore Oklahoma which is only 60 miles away. Now we have all 6 of our grandchildren within 60 miles of us. I will remember to pray for you and your daughter during this pregnancy, and maybe drop a hint or two that maybe God can send them closer to you. LOL

What a cutie. She will be a heart breaker. And so well loved. I would say now you can relax but you still have more births to go through. At least the most important one is over. Kudos to Mom and Dad. Good job.

I so often think about how lucky I am! I was in the delivery rooms for the births of all 6 of ours. We had two of our grandkids, Jamie and Little Diane, living here with us for a few years. Little Diane and Jamie have different fathers - Jamie's is not in his life at all, and we helped Diane's dad take custody of her on the advice of our caseworker. "A little girl who has a daddy willing to take care of her should be with him." Big mistake - he loved Little Diane but his new wife resents her - but hindsight is always 20/20. Anyway, she moved back here in 2012 when she was 17, and then went back to South Dakota to live on her own when she was almost 19. She's coming home in May for a week long visit because she says she just can't stay away! Her fiance, Dustin, will be coming with her. She wants to move back here because she loves and misses it so much, but I think she's barking up the wrong tree trying to get Dustin talked into living here. Jamie joined the Navy in 2007, met Rachel shortly afterwards, and they got married. Missed that wedding because they got married in Connecticut. Then a year ago come Monday their son, Landyn, was born and I became a great gramma! Missed that too. They flew out here last summer for 2 weeks, and I sniffed all the new right off that baby!

In 2002 Kenny and Jenny moved out here. They found a place right across the street. Katie was born in 2005. Tam moved here a few years later with 4 year old Evan and lives 2 blocks away. Then Kendra was born. So I have 3 of them here almost every single day, and I love it. I get to go to Katie's dance recitals, I'm at 3 physical therapy sessions a week with Kendra, we attend Evan's basketball games and scout activities and as many school functions as we can. My family, and Ken's family, only saw us once every year or so when Ken would get leave or if we could stop in for a few days while traveling to a new duty station. Our kids knew their grandparents - but barely. I am so blessed!!

Oh, thank you for the prayer!!! It echoed my very own...that she follow the path to righteousness and always seek God's will in her life. She truly is a miracle to me. Thank you so much for the constant prayer!

You are one lucky Grandma!

And Bee - you are too!!!! You live close enough to get to see baby so soon after being born! My mom would have loved to be there, especially since all 4 of ours were born at home, but never got there in time (my labors are always quick).

Unfortunately, we live a 4h plane ride, and a 2h drive, from my parents, and DH's mother is too scared to drive across town, so really, we see my parents more than his mom! When they come, they stay for at least 10 days, in the house, and so it is a REAL family visit.

We are moving further away (a 6h plane ride, 45min drive), but I am optimistic because my father is retiring in April and there are some murmurs that they will sell and move out to where we are moving to! I am pretty excited about that possibility, not just because then they can be around the grandkids (their only grandkids), but because as they get older I can be around to help them too!
