The Front Porch Swing

Home from Billings...snowing like crazy for the last 50 miles, but we are STILL going out to finish the coop. Had to have the window shut in the office while we were gone and walked into, well, phew! But look what I got! I ain't waiting for the mail order ones - I'll use these right away and put the others aside for justincases.

You can bet that the next time I get chicks I am doing it the way you gals did - outside from the get-go. I have learned so much from all of you, and just in case I forget to tell you often enough, I appreciate each of you for that, and for what you offer as friends. Now, I'm off to change into my coop clothes!

You are going to be thanking God for those nipples when you get them all in place and the chicks are using them....I just kept asking myself why I didn't know about such things years ago? Just one of those things ya learn as you go along that you pass along to others because they are so wonderful.

Go, Blooie!!!! Go Blooie!!!! You can do it!!! Get the coop done!!

Please forgive the crude material of this short video clip that should have been a sweet, lovely first video of my precious, innocent, sweet, lovely one week old grandchild. My boys were playing cards in the background and have provided some....um....additional sound effects and commentary that may not be suitable for our more delicate viewers. You've been warned......

Aww, thanks for the accolades, Bee. I'm in the same boat, Linda - got home, changed into my coop clothes, and told Ken I'd be out in a minute - I wanted to find a bucket. Well, I looked. And I looked. Then I looked some more and I finally found - TADA - an ice cream bucket. But no lid, no where, no how. Oh, I could probably cover it with foil, but if these chickens can find a way to spill it they will. Still looking! We did get the priming done, though. It'll probably take it two days to dry, but we put a heater out there so that should help. So funny - I'm looking at the back of the can (had to buy a different brand because we were in a different store today) and I busted out laughing. Ken was setting up the ladder and he asked, "What's so funny?" So I read him the back of the can....."Do not apply unless temperatures are 50 degrees or above and humidity is under 87%." Um, it was 35 degrees inside there and the rain and snow mix was hitting the sides of the coop hard! He glared at me and said, "It's a chicken coop, for crying out loud!" Oh, yeah, that's right....that little fact makes all of the instructions null and void - silly me, I forgot!

Bee, she's absolutely gorgeous. No worries about the background - I'm a Navy wife...totally shockproof! Besides after your warning I turned my speakers down, so I hope I didn't miss anything else.
Such a cute eggie, Lindz!
