The Front Porch Swing

I can't possibly read all 535 pages (as of this writing) and have to get back to CAREFULLY measuring where the balusters go but I wanted to reply to Bruce's post from early on.

You know It also depends on how far from "Wild" the breed is. For instance I am in love With Sumatras. hot climate adapted bird. from the Sumatra islands. There is a breeder in New York State that has a feral flock that he rescued from his local town. They were going to destroy them all. He brought about sixty of them to his eighty acre farm and free ranges em because he cant keep them contained... LOL. They are thriving.... only coming in for a little feed now and then. No fancy hot house coops for them either. He says they roost in the tall trees at night. Rain Snow what ever....

Quote: When My Aunt Helen was passing My dad was working for a fellow that had a company plane. I was 20 ish at the time. The boss offered the plan for a trip up and overnight in Ridgecrest Ca. Aunt Helen lived in Inyokern but was in a hospital in Ridgecrest.

Mom and dad sat In the back seat and there was another seat behind them but the pilot offered to let me ride Co pilot.... Wasnt a jet it was a Turboprop something or other.... All the way over he showed me how to change course and speed.... with teeny little knobs on the dash... He NEVER let me touch the controls. Mom and dad laughed because everytime they looked up they saw the backs of our heads. hunkered down looking at the instruments.

Dad was a Pilot in his youth.... Dust croppers doing stunts building and yes occasionally crashing. He wasnt concerned... I think he was kind of jealous.

I would love to ride in a jet too.... but am not so adventurous to do it on my own.... and if you can picture someone trying to get the CAT into a bathtub full of water.... That would be me for Heliocopters. I know how planes fly.... Helocopters scare the crap outa me.

Okay here's me experimenting. If the photo works this is Vanessa, I always thought she was a buff Orpington but she doesn't look at all like others i see on this site. Chicks aren't a clue because I tucked the neighbour's eggs under her: light Sussex and Rhode Island Red ROOSTERS it turned out, just my luck!
shes sure pretty havent a clue as to breed. Over the years, I have had Easter Eggers, Wellsummers, Silkeys, Barred Rocks, Auracanas (the rumpless kind), And Guinea fowl.

When I get started again it will be Guineas, and Sumatras, and a few cute mutts for fun.

Quote: Id do the coffeshop deal just good coffee/espresso the occasional sandwich. Have a quiet corener for studying and writing .... But I would only be there a few days a week. The rest of the time I would be enjoying my horse, build my carriage designs out. (I would have to build a metal fabshop to do that... and hire someone to help me)

I might take a cruise or two... Loved the Carribean ... want to see Alaska, And Australia and New Zeland. Not interested in china .... but would also love to see the Phillipenes and Samoa.... Then I would like to see some parts of South America.... Like Patagonia.... Some of Mexico on the Carribbean side. Machu Pichu....

Oh and in order to do that I would have a serious talk with a Doc I know of and get RID of this weight.
