The Front Porch Swing

Hello then! So I assume you're into chickens?

Hey there from Texas!! :frow

We are into chickens, kids, stories, horses, making friends, dogs (especially sweet ones-although I personally don't care for dogs, crept maybe the one bee just got), sweet tea, gardening, baked goods, and life. It's a cozy group here on the porch and it's good to have you!

I'm into a lot of those same things :) Thank you, it's good to be on here! It's a sunny day here and a bit windy. It's actually really nice for where I live, 55 degrees XD

It is beautiful here tonight. I just came back from the barn. The sky is clear and full of stars. Peepers are singing at the top of their little tiny lungs. I was taking clothes off the line this afternoon; the turkeys calling on the turkey preserve made me smile. The horses have started shedding and when they roll in the pasture they leave a big white patch of hair behind. Somebody's cat had kittens in my barn. The moma is wild! When I go in the barn she goes out the back lickety split. I have not played with the kitties since I want them to stay wild. AND my hens have finally started laying regularly! My son is coming to visit in two weeks. I haven't seen him in two years..... Life is good

I just reunited with my daughter after 10 years at Thanksgiving. Have a wonderful visit with your son. Tomorrow should be beautiful here too. We love to hear the peepers too. It makes me believe that winter is really over. We heard two groups of turkeys calling this afternoon from two different areas of our woods. Life really is good.

I honestly don't know what I said/did to deserve this PM. I know I have never said chickens can't fly. In fact I was concerned about them getting over my fence and out into the street or into my neighbours yard. I don't need this kind of treatment. I have enough in my life right now that I have to deal with.

I've enjoyed hanging out here with you ladies. You have been so nice. I'm saying goodbye though. This time I won't be back. If you would like to keep in touch just send me a PM and I will share my email address with you.

Okay, going to put this blunt because that is who I am and I like you. You can read a LOT on chickens, but to give advice without actually owning any is kind of "uncool". When I first got mine, I did the same! In reality, I can read EVERY post on this thread and get ideas, but until I actually apply them, I should not give advice, learned that the hard way.

I KNOW you are trying to help, like I said, I think you are good peeps! But reading and applying are two really different things. That would be like me reading up on cycling, never doing it and giving advice to new comers.

Please, please, please take this for what it is. I am the person that always puts my foot in my mouth, but I honestly mean the best when I do it.

PS I DO NOT think you should stop posting, I love your post! But maybe start with "I read that..." you have been on the forum for a while so people my see that and think you have applied your advice. Such as chickens not flying, my guys can clear a 8 ft fence, not saying they can fly, but they can cross any boundary if they really want unless there is a top covering. Would hate for someone to lose chickens, thinking they can not fly.

Praying for you, Ms. Jellybean!

RachaelS is a very sweet lady and was trying to be helpful, though it sounds like you didn't take it that way. If you have to go, go with our love and blessings on your life, but please don't leave angry or feeling hurt. The only rule here is to love your neighbor as yourself, so I'm thinking Ms. Rachael was trying to show you the love she would expect or want from one of us if she had kind of had a misstep on the forum. If she spoke out of turn, please try to forgive her like you would like someone to forgive you if you had done the same.

Another thing we don't normally do on BYC is to share PMs publicly, so that's a little helpful tip from me that I would want someone to tell me if I were new.
