I also LOVE fried turkey!!!! Was not sure, when I first heard about it, but dang it is GOOD!!!

I'm making a big Thai red curry soup right now. Couple cans of coconut milk, couple quarts of the broth from the bird ... then I'll add turkey breast, maybe some rice. I'll freeze some for later, probably.

I really like soup.

I would love to get a smoker ... people who smoke their home-grown birds always sound so happy about it.
oh that soup sounds divine. Could I have the recipe please? I just did a turkey breast in my rotisserie for dinner tonight.

Can you submit more than one? If yes you really should. Hope you don't mind me posting these here;) Here are two that Laura made for me. I LOVE her work!

I'm just so glad you were able to gift them to people who appreciated them. I don't mind if you share; if I can sell a couple more, that would be great, hehe! Money is gonna be tight for awhile, so it'll be a small business venture to sell these while the print shop gets off the ground.
Okay, I wanna know what you're feeding those chickens to get those beautiful eggs! ;) I'm just kidding - oh, those hand painted eggs are just gorgeous! I'm so impressed!
I'll never tell you what I feed them, hehe! If only I could get my chickens to lay eggs those colors, I'd be set! It'd definitely make picking out base colors a little more simple, haha. Thank you, though! I've been trying to improve at painting these small scenes on eggs and while it is challenging, I love doing it. :D

Evening all ! Just wanted to drop by the porch and say hello ! Just got in from our week in Cayo Santa Maria, Cuba and it was great ! Weather was beautiful (mid 80's to low 90's) - sunny and the beach was something right out of a magazine ! The resort was fantastic and great fun was had by all ! We did a day excursion to a nearby town/village called Caibarien... Even got to see lots of chickens while there - the place is overrun with Cubalaya's... They are a gorgeous breed :) I even asked the farmer if I could buy some hatching eggs but not sure how easily I could have got them back into the country :gig

Anyway, just wanted to say hello to all of you. I certainly missed the Porch and all you lovely people :hugs Hope I didn't miss anything too important :D

No recipe, really. I had about 4 quarts of thick, dark, skimmed turkey stock in one container that I wanted to use for this batch of soup. So I added a whole jar of curry paste (4 ounce jar of Thai Kitchen brand red curry paste they have in the ethnic food section of grocery stores) and 4 cans of coconut milk to that. I don't think the "lite" version of coconut milk works. The little jar of curry paste has instructions about how much curry per can of coconut milk for sauce ... I have special Asian rock sugar I used (the jar suggests brown sugar, which would also work) and a little fish sauce (kinda like Worchestershire sauce) ... I had that stuff from making Pho soup recently.

I had some leftover rice I'd cooked up with peas and seaweed I added to the pot, and a few handfuls of frozen peas just for fun. Then the cubed turkey. I'll add either fresh or steamed veggies as I use the soup ... But the base is good as-is ... that's what I had for dinner tonight.

I HOPE you come bringing pictures!!! :) I am glad you're back and they didn't keep you. So they have removed the restrictions on travel to Cuba? I bet it was very beautiful.
