It pretty well took all day ... open a can of coconut milk, go lay down for a nap. Wake up and formulate an exact plan of what I'm going to do when I get up so I can "feel" my way around the kitchen to do it ... get up, go to the kitchen and open another can of coconut milk and give the pot a stir, go lay down for another nap. It works out okay if nobody stops by the kitchen and moves stuff around so I can't find it on my next trip through ...

But I made it most of the way through the process and actually got the soup in the refrigerator at the end of the day instead of having to leave it out on the counter so it spoils over night. Today I hope to be able to figure out how to get it into containers for freezing ... and execute that process in tiny steps throughout the day.

Deb solved the mystery of how to get men to Mars and and back without them aging on the trip. (We're still arguing the merits of making it a round trip.)
Hey, watch it, there are men present on this porch!

Sorry, guess I didn't get the subtlety. Sounds like the son would give you permission to whack the weeds on their side of the fence, at least that would keep them out of your yard. Can't do much with unreasonable people though. I hope there are not other trees that can do damage in the future since clearly the lady isn't likely to be more decent in the future. I hope karma balances out for you in the long run!

Rats, I was SO hoping things were better, at least for a while since I know "better permanently" isn't in the cards at the moment.

Oops, my mistake! I should have been more specific! Of course I didn't mean "Porch Men!" We need them!

Good mornin' everybody. I am so excited. The Amish guys are coming to build my coop today. I hope I can get pictures to load. I will have to finish out the interior so it will be a little while before my birds can move into their new home. I really need the space. I am up to 30 birds now. (but half of them are babies, so they don't count, right.)

Oh, please do! Can't wait to see what they do for you....hope it has a lot of great features like natural light and great ventilation, etc. I'm almost up to 30 myself and have no idea how that even happened! Why in the world do I need that many birds unless I'm selling eggs? But...almost all of mine are babies right now, so they don't count.....riiiiiiiiiiiiggggggghhhhhhhttttt?

I now have 10 adult birds, 9 meat chicks/juvies, 6 RIR chicks, 2 Khaki Campbell ducklings, and two hatchlings from yesterday and today and will have probably 5 more.

BUT...I know how to subtract, so the meaties will be gone at the end of June, along with some layer culls, Fat Cochin will likely be gone and the RIR are straight run so if any cockerels, they will be gone this fall, so that will bring numbers down a bit but I hope to do another small hatch in May of just WR eggs.

Expanding my coop too, so we will be growing apace of one another!

Evening all ! Just wanted to drop by the porch and say hello ! Just got in from our week in Cayo Santa Maria, Cuba and it was great ! Weather was beautiful (mid 80's to low 90's) - sunny and the beach was something right out of a magazine ! The resort was fantastic and great fun was had by all ! We did a day excursion to a nearby town/village called Caibarien... Even got to see lots of chickens while there - the place is overrun with Cubalaya's... They are a gorgeous breed

I even asked the farmer if I could buy some hatching eggs but not sure how easily I could have got them back into the country

Anyway, just wanted to say hello to all of you. I certainly missed the Porch and all you lovely people
