I'm sorry you have those difficulties.

I hope and pray you have a good physician who is treating you....POTS is a nasty thing.

I'm thinking my DIL has this and funny enough, it stopped during her pregnancy, but has come back now that it's over. She almost fainted with the baby in her arms the other day. The Docs have not found what is wrong with her yet but the onset and symptoms are almost classic for her.

Quote: They are pretty simple. I need dimensions from you of your existing Hole. Without dimensions I cant proceed with a drawing you can build. Complete with parts list and build instructions. How big is the hole you set aside typically nest boxes are 12 x 12 x 12 having three nest boxes would mean the row of nests would be approximately 36 inches long. etc....

having access to them from the outside means the lid should be sloped for the rain to run off.... And where the hinge is applied needs NOT to leak into the boxes.

I am not a wood person.... but I could draw this up.

Or you could cut round holes and make nest boxes out of white 5 gallon buckets to match your trim. Waterproof and it's easy to cut the back of them to make hinged doors or even doors that swivel. Some folks do this by using the bottom of the bucket for the front of the nest box~cutting a half moon entrance~ and fashion a door from the lid, which I think is the easiest. The hinges can be on the bottom lip of the bucket and you can then open the bucket like a mailbox and retrieve the eggs.

Or make your nest boxes from totes...these are mine and I used scrap tongue in groove to do the doors that slide open.

No recipe, really. I had about 4 quarts of thick, dark, skimmed turkey stock in one container that I wanted to use for this batch of soup. So I added a whole jar of curry paste (4 ounce jar of Thai Kitchen brand red curry paste they have in the ethnic food section of grocery stores) and 4 cans of coconut milk to that. I don't think the "lite" version of coconut milk works. The little jar of curry paste has instructions about how much curry per can of coconut milk for sauce ... I have special Asian rock sugar I used (the jar suggests brown sugar, which would also work) and a little fish sauce (kinda like Worchestershire sauce) ... I had that stuff from making Pho soup recently.

I had some leftover rice I'd cooked up with peas and seaweed I added to the pot, and a few handfuls of frozen peas just for fun. Then the cubed turkey. I'll add either fresh or steamed veggies as I use the soup ... But the base is good as-is ... that's what I had for dinner tonight.
OK thank you!!!

No primary care physician yet. It was a cardiologist who figured it out. For years, I kept telling people it wasn't my heart, because it isn't my heart, it is my nervous system ... autonomic nervous system. But some wonderful nurse, who witnessed a doctor being nasty to me, asked me if she could walk me out of the building when he was done with me, and she told me about autonomic disorders and gave me a piece of paper on which she'd written the name of a cardiologist in the area who works with patients like me. That's a start, but I really need a doctor who has the time to read through my chart and learn about this stuff. And I need to find someone who can help me get to the doctors' offices ...

Autonomic things are really integrated with hormones ... so that possibly gave her a much-needed boost during the pregnancy. I hope she is able to get the support she needs. Weird things help ... I had some relief from some of my symptoms when I was living for a while at very high altitude. Go figure.

I find people don't believe I'm sick because I "don't look sick." And if they do believe I'm sick for a moment, they lose patience VERY quickly. And it is very easy to blame women's health problems on emotional/mental things, which is almost always backwards, but if you fight that, then it just seems to make them more insistent they've found "the problem." I've just started telling medical people, "If you want happier answers, you'll have to ask happier questions. But when we discuss the history of my symptoms, it's going to sound grim."

BK, I hope your DIL is spared some of the rougher aspects of finding help with her condition. And I pray she is one of the people who can find a treatment that resembles a cure. I can't imagine having POTS and also having a baby. I get CLUMSY when symptoms are warming up ... and I have to move very slowly.

We've found her on the floor before and she's had some nasty bumps to the head. This all started after she had surgery for a fatty tumor on her lumbar region...which has since grown back. The docs say there is no connection between the tumor and her bouts but after reading about the triggers of onset of POTS(one listed an onset after surgery), her symptoms sound like classic POTS. I'll have to point her in the right direction and hope she can find a good doc for this.

I had a huge flare-up after a back surgery, too. The surgeon came to make me stand up soon after the surgery, and I told him "wait!, wait!," but he dragged me to my feet, and then I had a huge crash, and saw the pretty white light and heard them clear the room and bring in the crash cart and then it was all black and then I got to wake up to him screaming at me. "Why didn't you tell me! Why didn't you tell me!!!!!"

"Tell you what?"

That's actually when I figured out not everyone feels like this all the time. I was in my 30s, and had been dealing with this as long as I can remember. Always called "slow" as a kid. Accurate, but incomplete.

They wouldn't let me even sit up in bed after that crash. The orderly would deliver my lunch, sit it on the table just out of arms reach, and leave ... I got really hungry after a few days, asked someone walking through the room if she could help me eat. "You're a big girl. Sit up and feed yourself."

Fun times.

I do think there is some connection between spine stuff and this autonomic stuff. I don't do well with anesthesia or pain meds, either. But the spine stuff seems to be a big trigger for me. When I flex my back or neck, I get symptoms.

Happy Good Friday! Good morning, everybody else! I need a little medical advice.

I was stupid yesterday and unknowingly stepped into an area where large black ants were and got about ten bites on my foot. I didn't scratch and immediately washed it with vinegar and aloe vera, but in the night, I must have scratched.

Either way, my foot is swollen and though it could be much worse, it is uncomfortable. Are there any home remedies that could help me lessen the swelling or the pain? I might end up taking some Benadryl, but I don't want to quite yet because it'll make me sleepy. I have some work to do first (and would painted eggs by a drug-addled girl just be awesome?).

Also, one of my dogs is still eating eggs. I found my fake egg (filled with mustard and vinegar) in the yard, broken up. Funnily enough, the chickens were enjoying the mustard, haha! Those little dogs are going to be locked away if this happens again. I won't put up with an egg-eating dog. I need my ducks to lay eggs and if I'm not getting them, well, I won't be happy. The only way I can do this, I think, will be to keep Rosie kennels all day and only to let her out when someone is outside. That would really, really suck.

Is there any way to make a small-dog-proof duck nest without having to segregate ducks or dogs from the rest of the flock?
