Now, now...dontcha know it's not the breed, just the owner?Just bad owners, is all. If I hear that one more time I'll just scream. There are many, many, many, many breeds of dogs with bad owners but you won't see many of them hunt down a toddler and try to kill it.![]()
Sigh Yep.... and that was no pit bull... It was a smallish dog about my Rosies size.and not beefy and toothy like a Pit Bull. People dont realize how important it is to socialized your dogs understand what stresses them and address those issues.
For instance Rosie was incredibly intelligent but she was a shy female.... Most likely to bite because they can become fearful. After I adopted her I did nothing with her for the first month except play and observe. She was great with adults and good with other dogs but she wouldnt make eye contact with my son. red flag. Thank goodness My manners with dogs rubbed off on him.... I taught him never to look a strange dog in the eye never to reach out to pet unless he asekd me first then "I" asked permission for him to pet. I told him to ignore Rosie for quite some time. Pet her when she came up to ask to be petted but not to persue her.
By the end of the month Rosie was part of MY pack which incuded Dean and my other dog Powcho.... And she was the last one in the pecking order. But I never trusted her with children unless they were over about ten or twelve. And when the house got confusing with company I could see her worry look and once out of the corner of my eye I saw a tooth.... OFF she went to a comfortable place where she felt safe. Another room Or out side.... but in good weather that usually ment to the car....
But with a dog that knows his power and has no respect for people outside of their pack people.... I dont care what breed it is its dangerous.
