The Front Porch Swing

Just popping in for a minute. My granddaughter has arrived and things have been hectic. Her mom left yesterday to return home and things have settled down some. There are lots of things she needs to get comfortable. She has a bad hip from an auto accident, so her mom found her a memory foam mattress topper that is helping her sleep better. She has met a few people her age through my friends daughter. I still don't know if it will work out. I don't have the time nor the energy to drive 20 miles to town to shop every day. She will have to get used to making a list. She loves
Target and the closest one is about 40 miles one way. I told her I would make one trip a month to Target with her and she needs to get whatever she needs for the month or find it a Wal-Mart. We are still adjusting to each other. Say a few prayers that it works out. She is 18 and can make up her own mind when it is time to return home.

Just wanted to know that after complaining my marans weren't laying, they've given me 1 egg a day, last 3 days!!

Now lets hope they continue until I can use them to put in the bator, or under a broody. About 2 more weeks. I fried the one I got yesterday and it was fertile. So everyone is doing their part!!

great..

PS. I love reading and rereading your signature verse, It's one of my many favorites. I'm glad I can read it every time you post

My friends.. I have some good news to share. I moved here to eastern shore MD in Jan from OK and have been praying since before moving for God to give us good friends and neighbors. Well so far we have had 3 neighbors come over and welcome us to the neighborhood, exchanged numbers and just talk which kind of reminds me of home where we didn't call to visit our neighbors we just showed up. I have lived in TX, MO and OK and didn't know my neighbors or interacted with them, I feel that God brought us to this community for a reason. One particular lady just comes and we talk like old friends.

Isn't our God wonderful?

I just had to share.

Every time I have answered prayers it just makes me so thankful and want to pray some more.

Prayers to all and have a blessed holiday.

Glad to hear that! You're right too.

We're the worst neighbors... probably a lot like your old ones

I'm a complete hermit.. and it's not that I don't want to interact with people, I just have really bad anxiety about doing so. Like.. I love baking, and I have wanted to bring stuff to new neighbors before... but in this day and age everyone is allergic to something or vegan or whathaveyou... I don't want to in advertently KILL someone with some cookies
th.gif
I overthink stuff way too much... find 100 reasons why not to do something. My husband isn't much better.. he's a super nice guy who would give you the shirt off his back, but starting a conversation is not his strong point. I do so love that man, he's my perfect match... back to the point.

We had this sweet old lady next door, I did bring her things every once in a while.. especially around the holidays. I'd send my step-son over to bring her cookies or cinnamon rolls... ofcourse she's come by later and give the kids candy or toys or clothes. She'd run to the store just to buy them things.

When she moved into an assisted living facility she gave me a beautiful glass rooster. She loved my chickens.. older people get reminded of the 'old days' when they hear chickens.

Our new neighbors are a young couple and I am making an effort to interact.. even though I have no idea what to say half the time
lol.png
And there's another couple who are into raising their own food, they're a little... 'hippy crunchy' I suppose, but they're nice. None of them even realized I was pregnant... the baby was 2 weeks old when they figured out we had a baby... because we're freaking hermits. I'm really bad at small talk..

Point is.. a lot of folks would like to interact more with the people around them, they just don't know how to start a conversation.

Say hi to your neighbors!

Guys, I have a family member in the hospital that needs some serious prayer. They are not doing good at all. Would you guys please pray for them. Thanks much!
You know you have all of us off our buckets, rails, steps and rockers and on our knees! Sending good thoughts too!

Silly girl.....it's you! You are the one they welcomed because you are the one who is so worth getting to know! Hope you love your new home!

I've been wondering. It will be a colossal adjustment, but you are absolutely right to start out with a few ground rules, such as not being the bus service but being willing to take her to Target when you can. Good for you! I'm praying hard for you and your family - my Little Diane will be here in 6 more days! Then I probably won't be on much except to pop in once in awhile as well!

Yayyyy! Um, is it weird that we are cheering someone cracking open an egg to cook and finding it fertile? Most everyone I know outside of the porch and the forum would be making their "ewww" faces! LOL

We will pray!! It may not work, but it probably will, and you will find great friends in each other!

Say hi to your neighbors!
big_smile.png
you made me smile. The lady who first came brought some brownies, she told me she was baking them with walnuts then her husband told her "what if they are allergic to nuts" so she baked two sets one with and one without, LOL. You are a nice person and I'm glad you are my neighbor here on BYC.

I read the first part and my heart skipped a beat... Let me explain why. My neighbor down the street I met here at BYC in the state forum we haven't met in person yet. So when I read "silly it's you" before reading the whole sentence I thought oh my another neighbor here in BYC!!!!!! I had one pass by today...then like a flash I remembered you are in a different state.. I have been Blooied... n i m loving my new home I get to keep chickens....
