The Front Porch Swing

Something, most likely a coon has knocked down my fencing at the back of the run the last 3 nights. (Power hasn't been hooked up b/c battery wouldn't hold a charge.) Now, there's an extension cord, a charger, and the battery all in the tote to keep power going, hopefully to give Rocky a bit of a wake up when he comes calling tonight. I also plan to set out a plate of vittles in the "have a hart" trap to give him some options. Should he choose plan B, I have even more entertainment in store for him. Any suggestions what kind of treats he'd like to snack on??

Interestingly, one or more of my RCBL are still going through the netting on the fully charged fence. How do i know it's charged? I take my shoe off, poke my toe in the damp grass, and grab the fence. It works!

Congrats Blooie on the engagement!

Tomtommom: Faith is sometimes hard to come by, but I guarantee, that if you ask, you will receive an abundant supply of it. And the more it's used, the more abundant it becomes, until it is truly a part of you and folks can't look at you without seeing your faith.

Hubby's surgery rescheduled for next Thurs.

A can of sardines is the best from what my buddy coon hunter tells me.

I certainly wouldn't know

Lazy Gardener- prayers for your hubby that this all goes well and he has a speedy recovery.

Blooie - your story of the engagement made me cry, at work no less! I am such a sap for a love story. Congrats on the new family member, he sounds like a keeper.

Why would anyone hope to catch a badger!?
Man, those things are mean, nasty, vicious critters. Did I mention mean? We had a big one in our neighborhood - as long as he stayed in the vacant lots (10+ acres each) we were OK with him hanging around because he ate alot of gophers. Everyone kept their dogs in at night because we have alot of coyotes that travel through eating the rabbits, so the badger wasn't really a threat to anyone. One night, my neighbor was driving home and the badger was walking down the center of the road towards him, so he stopped his truck to let it pass. The dang thing saw him, hitched into a gallup and attacked the front tire - putting a hole in it. The neighbor managed to get home before it went totally flat, but man was he mad. Grabbed his gun and headed out, but couldn't find the badger to "exact revenge".

As for raccoons - A friend in northern WI catches them with marshmallows. Don't know why that would work, marshmallows don't have much smell, and you want something smelly to attract them. You can also use canned cat food.

I love this picture, the surprise on her face. Good thing Grandma was there to capture the moment.

The first time Little Diane, Jamie and Austin came out to Wyoming to visit us she was was only 3 years old. We took the kids to Yellowstone and Little Diane fell in love with one spot - LeHardy Rapids. We had the worst time keeping her away from the rushing water, and an even harder time getting her back in the car. And every visit from then on, and then when she came out to live with us, that was "her place." So after she went to bed last night, Dustin, Ken and I sat up talking. Dustin had come to us and asked us where her favorite place in Yellowstone is. He said he'd planned to propose to her when they got back to South Dakota but when he saw how happy she was to be "home" he knew it had to be here. But he didn't have a ring yet. I did. I had Ken's mother's wedding ring, and I was instructed to see to it that my oldest granddaughter was given that ring when she married - not necessarily as a wedding ring but as a symbol of a lasting marriage. So Dustin proposed to our granddaughter with her great- grandmother's ring. Oh, she said "yes!"

So I'm curious, now that Little Diane is an adult, how much bigger is she than "not Little" Diane?

Gust and Kisa playing kissy face on my belly right now while Kita (not shown) steals my glasses off the nightstand.

Too cute!
I'm kind of getting a kick out of what the shirt says and the way he is just laying there!!

I noticed the same thing. Was that planned or just a lucky happenstance Lisa??

I can't possibly keep up tonight...so many posts!

Know that I always keep you all and your families in my thoughts and prayers, through good times and bad....I promise I'll read up tomorrow and catch up on the latest. In the meantime Little Diane and Dustin's vacation just keeps getting better and better!
