The Front Porch Swing

Someone came to my house today with a specific craving for chowder with corn in it, and complaining because their household doesn't like "soup." Ummm ... wanna join us for lunch? My freezer now has a turkey chowder shelf under the turkey broth shelf ... and I had added lots of corn.

I am the soup eater here.... Sigh.

I saw another awesome thing this morning. When I got to work this morn, I couldn't get in, long story, but as I was waiting in the hallway, I was looking out the large glass window/door at the end of the hallway, and saw a doe walk past. This is in the back of the college I work at. It is at the edge of town so there is a large open field that goes to a small woods. It was pretty close to the building, so a gentleman that works across the hall was walking to his office and he saw the deer also. Now there is a mound of dirt that is back there, for what reason, I don't know. As we drew close to the window to watch I saw something I thought was a rabbit, come from behind the mound. But it wasn't a rabbit, it was a baby deer!!! It's little legs were a little wobbly as he ventured on what we figured was his first steps. He couldn't have been more that a few hours old!! I don't have a smart phone or I would have taken a pic of it. It was so precious and I felt privileged to witness such a rare occurrence, at least for me. Another blessing! They are all around us if we just open our eyes to see!

Whata boy.... LOL.  So whats he going to grad school for??  Hunh?? :pop VBG.

Uh these are challenging questions, after a while who knows what the kids are doing. But, okay, my son has a bachelors in education and is wanting to do a masters in science and conservation education. My daughter has a masters in biology and is doing her PHD at the Cornell lab of ornithology studying, I think, bird song, and speciation. Both kids are brilliant scientists and environmentalists and understand Darwin and, what can I say? Their dad and I just mentally bow down and listen to their ideas and expand our intellectual universe and grow and argue and question and love their brilliance then get exhausted and go to bed early and curl up in each others arms and feel glad our working life doesn't require brilliance.

Looking through threads and this seems like a good one. Thought I'd join and say hello :)

Well hello! Pull up a bucket, hay bale or simply hang out on the railing! Lisa will welcome you in the morning when she gets up, but for now welcome to the front porch where the stories will make you laugh and cry, where people love God and each other and are very accepting of each other's idiosyncrasies. Tell us a story and show us some pics! Most everyone's in bed now but you might catch some late nighters still on.

Welcome to the porch, Alice28!

Seems like forever since anyone brought treats - how about some warm brownies with vanilla ice cream. I've got a chocolate craving.
