The Front Porch Swing

Those people that want to "SAVE THE ROOSTERS" get my goat. hahahaha You know... "a rooster sanctuary in every village". LOL But the, well one of the worst are those people that make animals equal to people.

There's a rescue up North, it's called chicken run rescue. They implant the chickens with birth control implants for dogs. I am not kidding you. They want you to pay an adoption fee to have a pet chicken that cannot lay eggs because that's abuse. Oh. Dear. LORD.

Crazy vegans.

(Vegan is fine. CRAZY vegan is not fine. These are the ones that treat those who do not live like them like we're the scum of the earth. Not cool.)

Ahh nothing wrong at all with working on a heritage breed or whatever anybody chooses to work on. Somebody NEEDS to work on them and I admire you for doing it. If I can ever get my own head pointed in one direction someday I might do that too.

I had a run-in with some snooty people a day or two ago. Lucky I didn't get one of those BYC traffic violation ...citation ...ticket things. LOL ...whatever you call those doodads when you're on the bad list. Some people are so ignorant it just really really amazes me. lol Some of my friends ( ;) ) have to get on to me now and then for leaving The Porch and getting in trouble.

YOU LEAVE THE PORCH!

I saw a post here once. Help bring ethics to agriculture! It was a little organization all excited to explain to farmers how to behave ethically. One of their missions is to stop on farm slaughter unless stunning is used. Either electrical or gas stunning. They were promoting using portable stunners for poultry processing. I guess people who don't electrocute their chickens lack ethics ...

How is that logic even possible? Pumping hormones into a chicken is nicer than letting it lay eggs? It makes me sad. Because to get to that thought as a solution to a pressing problem, you'd have to be experiencing some intense and desperate feelings of horror about how humans have survived for ages.

I have run into pages explaining how cruel it is to take eggs away from a chicken. The thinking is that somehow forces the bird to lay more and more eggs ...

I think the world can use more empathy and compassion, but that seems like such intense empathy it must be painful. Sad.
