The Front Porch Swing

Hi! I want to visit the front porch. I'm Randi. I live in Arkansas with my husband and two sons. We've kinda started doing the Hobby Farm thing and just living a simpler life. We have dogs and ducks and a turtle. We love on the same property as my parents and grandparents. It's good to be close to them for several reason. We are here if they need help (no one is getting younger) and they can teach us what they know. Plus I think it's great for my boys to be close to their parents, grandparents AND great grandparents! I hope to make some nice friends on here.

I love how the turtle gets his own acknowledgment! Welcome welcome!

No anything horse involved I was taken by the stable manager with all the other young people from the barn. There was no horse trailer for large groups so we rode the horses two by two five miles to the next town to get their annual shots worming and teeth done.

I am living with my soon to be 98 year old Grandmother. My son is 24 and living here as well while he goes to San Diego STate. Mom is five minutes away in her own house. I tried to get us all to live in one house but it REALLY woudlnt have worked... LOL

Any hoo I have a house sixty miles away where a neighbor takes care of my horse.... No poultry right now... but one day when I move back.

This town Santee...  Had hitch posts at the seven elevens... LOL when we moved here.  There were three dairys in Santee and the horses out numbered the cows.  But I didnt ever hear of 4h till I was at least in my 20s.   That doesnt mean it didnt exist...  But it wouldnt have mattered any way because mom didnt drive.   Or if I had learned of it and found someone to take me to meetings she would have sabotaged it some how....   LOL... We had 4H and Girl Scouts around here but I didn't get involved in much outside the family. I was socially backward then and I still am. lol My mom thought I ought to join Gild Scouts. She took me to one meeting and I stood around and looked at everybody a few minutes and said, "Nope let's go." They were wearing funky uniforms (some in DRESSES!) and doing girly stuff so I sure didn't have time for that! lol
