The Front Porch Swing

Ok guys, how do you make chili? Does this look about right?

I had some left over chopped onions, paprika and tomatoes, so I decided to combine them with some canned kidney beans in chili-tomato sauce and minced meat.

There's no wrong way to make it. That looks about right

My mom used to make 'chili' in the Netherlands with a packet from Knorr. Tasty stuff, but not close to what they call chili in the US. For one, there was no heat to it.

Tam was a little stunned when she came over to do chicken chores - we had 10 eggs! The EEs have been laying really nice ones - usually 50g or more, but we're all stunned by one of the eggs yesterday:

Ain't that a beaut??? Ken is discharged, and he's at Linda's resting while I'm taking Linda to cardiac rehab. Just waiting for her to finish up.

I don't feel like I get dumped on! LOL. I figure ya gotta keep exercising stuff to get stronger, and they say that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right? So I think the Good Lord is just making sure I never run out of fitness equipment so I can stay strong. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Quote: Oh no! I had forgotten about Forrest already, but now you went and reminded me again! Well, I suppose life is like a box of chocolates that way... Although usually when I've bought a box of chocolates, it comes with pictures and a description of what's inside every one of them, so I would have to disagree with Forrest's mama in this matter.

I just watched Forrest Gump! LOVE that movie ;) Also watched The Princess Bride. Apparently was on a Robin Wright kick! Lol!

Glad to hear that your Dad was able to find someone again. It doesn't take away from "MOM" but he does have a good life. More men can not live alone than women. We already know what to do. Men also need more companionship. My ex remarried just a month or so after the divorce and then again 10 years later. He just could not stand to be single. I was the opposite. I love being my myself. I live with 3 other adults in the house and spend combined maybe 30 min with them a day. Why yes, I am a bit of a hermit.

Happier than I ever have been.
I think women are wired differently. We spend so many years nurturing, first our children, then our parents, as well as anyone else who wanders into our circle of existence. By the time we find ourselves in a position where we have no one else to be responsible for, we're more than ready to spend time alone. I crave my solitude. Family is nice, but, just once, I'd like to be able to clean my house, and be able to come back the next day, and find that it's still clean!!!

Gotta love a bowl full of home made chili. When I make a pot of chili, i do well to get my family to eat a little bit of it. Gotta have some cheese with it, either sharp white or colby. I end up eating the whole pot full myself, and I don't mind a bit.

I can understand craving solitude sometimes. I love my better half very much, but sometimes it's nice to be home alone too. This weekend

The chili was received with mixed enthusiasm (I was the sole diner). It could of had a bit more kick to it, and needed a lot more salt.

Maybe I should just start watching Forrest before I'm in the top three posters of the day. But BYC is too addictive, and I have nothing better to do since my better half has abandoned me for the weekend, allowing me to enjoy some of that solitude.
