Thanks! A bit better than the columns. We're not really column people. I think it makes the house look a bit more country. Now we just need to do a light stain, add some trim to cover the metal brackets at the bottom and we will be back in service. I'll post a prettier picture then. Still a nice place to sit with a cup of mint tea and watch the deer raid my orchard in the morning, though!

Uh oh… are these a good kind of backyard duckies? I might need some ducks too!

These are ducks without the quack. They're quiet, they only hiss like a goose and honestly I haven't heard them yet. They're supposed to be fantastic fly control, I watched them catch a few already. Lean meat, prized in France.. tastes like veal or something. Good moms. Decent enough layers. They need only a tub with a few inches of water, rather than a pool or pond. They're good flyers though, but shouldn't fly off if we take good care.

Ofcourse that's mostly hearsay. Still getting to know them. I like them a lot so far.

I had a cascade of panic attacks and didnt go... long story. Ramping up again but I wont talk about it till afterwards.

Aww Deb, it can be really overwhelming... hope you can work through it.

tntchix, I saw a cool video of a Russian guy who had his ducks trained to go in on command, it was pretty awesome when he started screaming at them and they all lined up and went in.

My daughter lives with 22 ducks in her house. She has them all trained to go into dog crates when she claps her hands. Then she takes them outside for a few hours of duckying (shut up, Spell Checker Dude - I made that word up and I'm keeping it!) then does the same in reverse to bring them all in. It's the craziest thing I've ever seen! Ken isn't even that well trained!

Deb, when you're ready, we're here!

I need to do that for my duckducks. I want them to graze, without my herd of raised garden bed destroyers a.k.a. hawk bait a.k.a. chickens all roaming around. Just get duckducks, put them in a crate, take them to the grassy enclosure and let them do their thing for a few hours.
